Customer Reviews

From a not very technically minded person.5
I have been looking for a USB turntable for a while now as I have an extensive vinyl collection that I wanted to preserve and to be able to transfer to my iPod. For a low priced, basic product, the Ion iTTUSB05 is fantastic. It took me less than 10 minutes to transfer my first single vinyl to my iPod - and I am useless with gadgets!
Much of the "crackle" that you get on vinyl is elimated and when burnt to a CD the sound is of a good, clear quality. I was surprised at how good when you consider the sound of the vinyl itself.
The software is so easy to use and the CD that comes with the turntable gives the option of a more sophisticated converter, which I shall try once I am more familiar with the whole process. I bought mine from Jacme, via Amazon and I recommend the whole package, Jacme delivered much quicker than their estimate and the unit was in pristine condition.
You can also use the unit to plug into a speaker system if you do not wish to use via a computer. I tried mine via a portable CD/Radio and it gave an acceptable quality. All in all, a good buy at an acceptable price.

It's a basic solution, but good nevertheless3
I received the TTUSB05 as a present, and very grateful I was to receive it. Like many others I have an extensive vinyl collection that I would like to convert to mp3. In my case I will store them on a Network-Attached-Storage device which I use for photos and music.

So, turntable unpacked, CD popped into laptop, software installed. I connected the turntable, ran the EZ software that comes with the unit and started to record my first LP (don't laugh, but it was Leonard Cohen's Greatest Hits).

An extremely easy process. I had no problems committing Bird on a Wire, Sisters of Mercy, etc. to mp3

Would I recommend this unit, well maybe ...

It has a few shortcomings that I guess would be addressed in more expensive units. The playing arm is plastic and the counter-weight cannot be adjusted. This meant that a couple of my older LPs skipped during playback. The quality of the cartridge/stylus unit is not what it could be.

It has left me wondering whether or not I could take the innards out of the unit and install them in my antique Pioneer PL12D turntable (all the rage in the 1970's!).

As to software supplied it is very intuitive to use and gave me no problems. It is centred upon sending everything to the iTunes folder, which might be a problem for some.

One thing that I did encounter was that my PC suddenly went quiet. This was because the software/turntable using a new speaker driver that only works for files streaming from the turntable. I had to reset the existing speaker driver as default before I could play the mp3s that I have created.

Excellent Product, Very easy to use5
I had been toying with the idea of buying a USB turntable for quite some time- I am very pleased to have chosen this one.

I bought it from ACS Media ,it arrived within two working days!

Very simple to set up,first just straight into my stereo system ( make sure that you plug it into the aux plugs not the phono, due to the pre-amp on the turntable), but then I managed to start converting records very quickly.

It comes with all the software to convert vinyl via USB cable, or alternatively download the EZ Vinyl Converter via their website. Very good explanations for required settings for Vista.

All in all, incredibly easy and quick to use. There may be "professional" products costing alot more that will give a better quality of sound, but this is an excellent entry level product, and will certainly suit all my needs.

I'm just sorry I didn't buy one earlier!
