Teaching Aid
I purchased the title with my children (school teacher GCSE english) in mind. I was looking for a modern adpatation of the problem play that would lend itself well to a young audience, and I was very impressed. The film is engaging, and the young cast did very well at keeping the themes and overall narrative of the play intact. Nicely put together with a great score. Recommend it to all studying the text.

The way it should be taught!
I wish that Shakespeare had been delivered this way to me as a student - it would have been far more relevant and interesting, revealing the intentions of the text and charcaters. The film itself is a little 'staged' - but the acting is solid, and therefore of value to learners that may be trying to get familar with the text. It clearly has low production values, but that doesn't seem to matter much for the this type of film.

Learn Lessons from this
You could probably literally understand every line of Shakespeare when watching this DVD, so good is the visual adaptation of this, and thus the audience very quickly get into the world created for them. I showed this to my class of 15 year olds whom immediately just shut up and became absorded in the narrative and charcaters - and didn't snigger at all as there wasn't any cheesy period costumes which alienate such and audience.
