Editorial Reviews
CD Description
The Rolling Stones are a household name all over the world, with their music reaching out to fans of all genres and ages. This collection of the band's early hits was originally released in 1975 and contains some of the most groundbreakingand unsurpassed music in rock 'n' roll history. 'Rolled Gold+', an extended version of the original (simply entitled 'Rolled Gold'), is the first time the compilation has been released on CD and boasts such classic tracks as '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' and 'Paint It Black'.
Customer Reviews
Best Stones compilation
Still far and away the best overview of the Stones' music from the days when the Stones mattered. A welcome re-release despite what others say.
Stereo!
I had the vinyl version of this album. It is by far the best Rolling Stones collection on the market. This CD release is no disappointment. The sound quality is superb. I can add little to other reviews, with one exception. This was the only place that I knew the stereo version of "Paint it Black" to be. I can confirm that this reissue still has the "Paint it Black" track in stereo, which was a major reason for me buying this collection for another time.
I agree with a previous reviewer who says that this is a much better collection than "Hot Rocks." This is a much better collection and better sound quality.
Yet another pointless re-release
Record companies really are scraping the barrel now with re-releases. What is the point of this release when we already have the more comprehensive 'Forty Licks' and the even better three cd Singles Collection? Then of course there are the other 'Hot Rocks' Stones compilations released in the band's hey day. Okay so it might be the first time it has been released on cd - I used to have it on vinyl when it was first released in 1975 as it was the most comprehensive collection of Stones material from the 60's at the time, however it has since been greatly surpassed - but it's about the fifty first time these tracks have been re-issued. Who on earth will buy this I don't know and just what will record companies do next to re-sell us what we already have?
The music is of course five stars, but as we're reviewing this pointless release it gets two stars.
