DVD Description
With a superb ensemble cast, this is a hilarious and heart-warming BBC comedy from Jennifer Saunders, the writer and star of Absolutely Fabulous.

Clatterford is a small town, but big enough to have a good cross-section of people, local shops and a late night convenience store - a place which also has a thriving Women's Guild. When Sal's husband dies suddenly of a heart attack, she is forced to give up her role as practice nurse at the local surgery. Without a job and feeling very much alone, Sal slowly realises that she needs the support of the Women's Guild as much as they need her, so she decides to join them and give the Guild a try... after all, its ideals are to promote truth, justice, tolerance and fellowship - or is it just an excuse for a good old gossip?

Starring: Sue Johnston, Pauline McLynn, Dawn French, Joanna Lumley, Jennifer Saunders.

Synopsis
Jam and Jerusalem is the hilarious yet poignant new comedy series from the creator of Absolutely Fabulous. Set in the small town of Clatterford, Jam and Jerusalem focuses on the Women's Guild; an organization that was established to promote qualities such as truth, tolerance and justice but its members are far happier gossiping, as recently widowed Sal is about to find out when she joins the group...

Id watch it if i were you!5
best show ive seen in a long time and really does show how much of an excellent comic writer Jennifer Saunders is. Although she hasnt really got a big part in it(unfortunately) the rest of the wide cast are amazing - especially Dawn French as crazy Rosie! this is just a fab series with hilarious and heartfelt storylines and id recommend it to any1!!!

Excellent Series!5
I enjoy French and Saunders comedy anyway, and this comedy fits in perfectly with what I laugh at.

Jam and Jerusalem is essentially a series about a small village called Clatterford, and it follows the lives, primarily of Sal Vine (Sue Johnston) and her family. Basically, she joins the WI after her husbands death, and the comdey comes in when the other bizarre characters all act together.
There's Rosie (Dawn French), a person with a personality split, and obsessed with cheese, Caroline Martin (Jennifer Saunders) who has a very small part, but her voice and facial expressions make me laugh so much!

Overall, Jam & Jerusalem is an excellent comedy about the WI, but I think it's one of those very "British" comedies, where something is said to be funny, unlike an American comedy, where something stupid has to be done to be funny.

Recommended!

Utterly Scrumptious!5
How many times have I watched these two dvd's? Perhaps twenty plus times for each one and I never ,ever get tired of them! Like that other quintessentially english comedy,Fawlty Towers,Jam And Jerusalem improves with age.

Set in a small farming village, and revolving mainly around the local branch of the W.I.,this is a bittersweet confection which never fails to delight!

Check out Sue Johnstone as Sal,the widow who dares to join the W.I. She is superb,as indeed all the rest are! ,in particular the leader of the group, who is beyond compare!

You'll also see smaller parts from the likes of Dawn French as a cheese factory worker,Jennifer Saunders as a rather posh yet slightly eccentric local who trains and judges horse-jumping shows and if her tales are to be believed, houses various rock stars in her spare time in between organising festivals, etc.

joanna Lumley is also superb as an old hag who is completely off her trolley, and the local vicar who is always uptight is a sheer joy!

Before I finish,I have to mention Tash,Sal's daughter, who is hilariously over-the-top as her hippyish daughter, refusing to grow up and accept rsponsibility! You can really feel the bond between Tash and her mum, amidst the agony and ecstasy of sharing the same house!

I could go on and on about all the characters,as all are ace,but I have gone on too long already!

Treat yourself to this 2 dvd-set,kick off your shoes and sink into a lovely, soft armchair with a mug of hot chocolate, and forget about the daily grind!

Just fantastic!!

Can't wait for series two!
