Customer Reviews
July 1981
This is it, the last ever album by Grand Funk Railroad. Original bassist `Mel` is replaced by Dennis Bellinger, who also helped out on the `Lives` album. Well! what a turkey this turned out to be .I would love to say that its their best ever and what a way to finish but,ten tracks, two covers, and three decent rock songs. the rest are Top 40 melodic pop-oriented songs. This is not Grand Funk Railroad! . A thousand A.O.R groups play this every week and its not what the group were about. the group only reformed because they recorded `Queen Bee` for the Heavy Metal film soundtrack and then the record deal landed. Some 70`s rock bands like Yes,Genesis,Who, made the transition successfully to the 80`s but GFR didnt. I dont know why maybe we could blame the record company or their fans were`nt interested or whatever but,Im afraid to say the time was not right! So this is the end `shot` at point blank range twitching in their final movements..a sad and sorry end to a once mighty rock group! R.I.P.......... for their last great album go back to `Good Singin Good Playin`this is where the line ended on a high I might add.
