Solid, dependable product

The Transcend 4GB Secure Digital (133X) I bought 18 months ago has now outlived my camera. As an SD card, I cannot recommend this product enough. I've ordered several for other people as well and they are, to date, 100% reliable and considerably faster than much more expensive SDHC cards.

This is NOT an SDHC card, but SDHC cameras can use the older standard. SDHC cards use different memory addressing and can be as large as 32GB. Unfortunately, the SDHC standard only supports up to 6MB/s transfer rate. This card transfers data at 20MB/s.

The largest an SD card can ever be is 4GB, so this is as large as it gets.

If your device is very old or very cheap, it may have an SD controller in it that pre-dates version 1.01 of the SD standard (which cannot support card sizes over 1GB). If this card does not work for you, no SD card over 1GB will work for you and some 1GB cards with large block sizes will still not work for you.

There are slightly faster cards (150x is 22.5MB/s) but they are much more expensive. This card is in the sweet spot of price/performance as of the date of this review (29/04/09).

SD 4gb Card
Memory Card was purchased for use with my Audi RNS-e Satnav unit to play MP3's. Card works perfectly with very fast transfer speed. Was recognised instantly by my card reader and was preformatted FAT32 which is what I needed. All in all a very good and well built product.

Sat Nav Navigo SY885
I have a Sat Nav SY885 It is the V1 of its type and has an old version of windows CE 5.0 OS installed.

This model of Navigo has a problem in that SDHC cards cannot or have trouble being read, Which prevents using SD cards above 2GB

Transcend luckily produce non HC cards 4GB (consisting of 2x2GB chips and a driver chip)

I had used the cheaper 4GB transcend card (with no speed rating). This did work but only after formatting it to FAT rather than FAT32.

This New card 133x is much faster than the standard and works fine in FAT32 (allowing me to have more than 255 files in a folder)

The map update is faster on IGO8 due to better speed access

I would try the 150x card but it's twice the price, ouch

This Card is the solution for anyone who owns NAVIGO SY885 and is a must have.

So impressed I have ordered another one.

Thank you transcend for giving older non SDHC machines more memory.
