CD Description
'Last Look At Eden' is the eighth album by Swedish rockers Europe. Best known for their classic track 'Final Countdown', the Joey Tempest-led troupe blend new ideas and sounds forthis release. Adding modern rock and funk sounds but retaining the rock riffs that made their name, this is a bold and fresh album. Includes the single 'Last Look At Eden'.

About the Artist
Europe are one of the biggest hard rock bands ever coming out of the eighties, definitely the biggest coming out of Sweden. Formed in 1979 under the name Force by vocalist Joey Tempest and guitarist John Norum they took off to conquer the world at the beginning of the 80s to become one of the most successful Rock acts of the decade.

Europe sold more than 12 million albums worldwide. The band has achieved two top 20 albums "The Final Countdown" (1986) and "Out of This World" (1988) and two top 10 singles ("The Final Countdown" and "Carrie") on the US Billboard Charts.

At the peak of their career in 1986 John Norum left the band and was replaced by Kee Marcello. After ten years of living, recording, and touring together, Europe decided to take a break at the end of the 1992 tour and announced the band had split. They reunited temporarily for a one-off performance in Stockholm on New Year`s Eve 1999 and finally announced an official reunion in 2003 with the original guitarist John Norum. Since then Europe released two albums, "Start from the Dark" and "Secret Society".

The band is performing sold out gigs all over the world, gaining the respect of hard rock purists and metal fans thanks to impeccable performances.

"Last Look At Eden" is Europe's 8th Studio album. See them headlining at Bloodstock Festival , Derby, UK on August 16th 2009.

Customer Reviews

...Buy it, enjoy it, rock it!...4
I must admit that I wasn't much of a Europe fan first time out, but having seen the reunited band live, I was persuaded that things were more to my liking this time around.

This is the third album since they got back together, following on from "Start from The Dark" and "Secret Society", and sees them continuing on the heavier, darker, rockier road that their reunion has seen them take. And, in the main, this is an excellent release.

The title track is an outstanding opener, with the guitars of John Norum and the keyboards of Mic Michaeli vying with each other in a who is heaviest competition. Joey Tempests voice is deeper and richer than it was in their high flying eighties, but the music needs the extra depth that he brings. John Norum even gets a chance to get his blues on, on tunes like 'Catch That Plane', something that they wouldn't have been capable of pulling off, twenty years ago.

There are a couple of big ballads thrown into the mix. After all, they'll still want to keep the ladies sweet! The best of them is 'New Love In Town', a song that is followed by the contrasting, bludgeoning 'The Beast', which is as close to heavy metal as Europe are ever likely to get.

Rockin', bluesy, funky and melodic rock albums don't get much better than this one. Buy it, enjoy it, rock it!

Overlook at your peril5
A cracking bit of orchestral powered rock. If Last Look At Eden doesn't cause you to push the accelerator in your car just a little bit harder, you can't really call yourself a rock fan. I strongly suspect this will be the best album Europe will ever make.

Europe's Best Since Prisoners In Paradise!5
This album should have been the one that brought Europe back into the UK top 40, it's far better than the band's previous two albums, even though they were still very good.
The album's title track and the stunning ballad New Love It Town are worth the price of this CD alone. Classic rock at it's best!
Europe are far more than one hit numbers, they are one of the best bands in rock. Just buy it and enjoy it!
