The term alternative humour had not been heard of when Chic Murray first bestrode the stage. He was unique, a one-off, a comedic pioneer ranked in the highest echelons of his art in the last century. Chic s comic genius was all too rarely captured on film. This DVD includes rare footage of Chic s classic routines recorded whilst he was at the peak of his career as well as e specially recorded feature with Maidie Murray, Chic s wife and stage partner of many years. Just Daft: The Comic Genius of Chic Murray gathers together the off-beat comic genius s finest sketches and clips onto one hilarious DVD compendium.

Editorial Reviews
About the Actor
Chic Murray turned the Celtic tradition of story-telling into an art form. His oblique, often perverse look at life was underpinned by an original sense of timing which likely originated from his accomplished but little known musicianship. A talented actor as well as a groundbreaking comedian, he appeared in various roles on British television and film notably Casino Royale, Gregory s Girl and memorably portrayed Liverpool Football Club manager Bill Shankly in You ll Never Walk Alone, receiving rave reviews. In 2005, Chic was named in The Comedian's Comedian, a poll where comedians chose their own favourite or most influential comedian.
Customer Reviews
Just Brilliant
Chic Murray is described in the blurb as a comic genius - and this DVD tribute shows why. It includes the brilliant - and touching - documentary `A World of his Own' that features Billy Connolly (among others) waxing lyrical about their hero, and is infused with classic Chic clips. There is also extra footage that has been recently discovered, and the clips of Chic on Joker's Wild are particularly entertaining.
Highly recommended, I was laughing out loud through the whole thing. Just brilliant.
The Official Edition!
I can't help but notice that the other review (by J Mc) is actually for 'The Chic Murray Collection' NOT 'Just Daft' which is actually produced in conjunction with the Murray family, in line with the book of the same name by Robbie Grigor.
Buy the other one, it's got to be better.
75 minutes and about 20 minutes of it is Chic Murray being a comedian, with some of that repeated in the tribute, which is longer than the comedy act. Mediocre play and poor tour of Glasgow city chambers which cut on my disc to someone meeting school children. Think the disc producers are having the best laugh.
