The greatest rock and guitar album of all time. Jimmy is my most favourite guitarist ever. First heard this in 1970 and still listen to it almost every week.
Led Zeppelin IIILed Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Buy new: £6.68 / Used from: £3.39
Jimmy Page at his very best. Great electric and acoustic guitar. Probably my most favourite album of all time. I will never tire of hearing this album, or any Zep album. It still inspires me to play.
Led Zeppelin IVLed Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £2.33
Nothing needs to be said about this album. Master Page not only played great guitar, but also created some of the very best rock music ever. Second is not even close.
Live Cream Volume IILive Cream Volume II by Cream
Buy new: £5.98 / Used from: £2.87
Eric Clapton at his aggresive best. This is 'Slowhand' shreding in 1968. (Ok, there was Alvin and TYA, but this is CREAM) This album inspired me and drove me to practice.
Vagabonds Of The Western WorldVagabonds Of The Western World by Thin Lizzy
Buy new: £6.98 / Used from: £4.56
Eric Bell's playing is inventive and superb throughout the album. The guitar solo on 'The Rocker' is one of the best ever. Very under rated.
PilgrimagePilgrimage by Wishbone Ash
Buy new: £6.18 / Used from: £4.43
One of the very best twin lead guitar albums. Great guitar sound and beautiful melodies. I love this album.
Electric LadylandElectric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix Experience
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £3.00
The 'Guitar God' who started it all. Didn't know which album to choose, so chose this for 'Voodoo Chile'. R.I.P
Power of Rock 'n' RollPower of Rock 'n' Roll by Frank Marino
Absolutely awesome. No one comes close to Frank for this style of pentatonic shred. His playing is incredably fast over music that thunders along like a souped-up juggernaut. Hendrix on speed.
ObsessionObsession by UFO
Buy new: £6.48 / Used from: £2.95
Michael's playing has always inspired me. Creative and melodic. Everything by the 'Mad Axeman' is worth hearing. One of my most favourite guitarists ever. Love all his albums.
Stage StruckStage Struck by Rory Gallagher
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £3.00
Rory at his very best - which was always when playng live. A guitarist who has inspired me since I first heard him with Taste. A brilliant, hard working musician. Sad, Sad loss. R.I.P
Live Johnny Winter AndLive Johnny Winter And by Johnny Winter
Buy used from: £8.49
Difficult to choose an album by Johnny, they're all great. This was the first JW album I heard and it blew me away. Along with Clapton, he's possibly one of the very best 'white' blues guitarists.
Let There Be RockLet There Be Rock by AC/DC
Buy new: £8.48 / Used from: £5.66
Angus is the absolute master of 'Simple, no-nonsense, Kick-Arse' hard rock guitar. It doesn't get better than this.
Flying in a Blue DreamFlying in a Blue Dream by Joe Satriani
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £2.92
Creative, versatile and awesome. Joe is currently the best high-tech player. Love all his albums.
Jeff Beck's Guitar ShopJeff Beck's Guitar Shop by Jeff Beck with Terry Bozzio & Tony Hymas
Buy new: £6.98 / Used from: £3.99
What can one say about Jeff! WORLDS GREATEST ELECTRIC GUITARIST? Possibly. If you're a guitarist, then anything by this man is worth hearing.
Grant StreetGrant Street by Sonny Landreth

Some of the very best slide guitar playing I've ever heard. Awesome guitar sound. Absolutely brilliant.
Made in JapanMade in Japan by Deep Purple

Ritchie has always been one of my favourite guitarists and an inspiration. Not as fast as Malmsteen but his music is much, much better.
Passion and WarfarePassion and Warfare by Steve Vai
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £2.48
Probably Steve's best album. Jaw-dropping guitar packed with emotion.
ExtremeExtreme by Extreme
Buy new: £4.89 / Used from: £3.03
Nuno's playing is awesome. There are so many great high-tech shredders around, but this guy joined a band and plays incredible fast melodic guitar over very good songs. Brilliant.
Mind's EyeMind's Eye by Vinnie Moore
Buy new: £19.99
None-stop high-tech shred with a guitar sound that cuts through steel. All his albums are great.
Perpetual BurnPerpetual Burn by Jason Becker
This is the most OTT shred guitar of all time. Awesome, stunning, jaw-dropping guitar. A tragedy that Jason's illness has stopped him from playing.
Cosmo's FactoryCosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival

John Fogerty's guitar playing is a fine example of 'simple and tasty'. One of my all time favourite guitarists and a very big inspiration when I started playing guitar 36 years ago.
Rockin' BluesRockin' Blues by Duke Robillard

Duke's mastery of Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Swing and Jazz is inspiring. One of the finest guitarists of those styles. Check out his albums - they're all great.
GuitarGuitar by Dan Crary

This is some of the very best Bluegrass guitar playing I've heard. Dan's mastery is awesome. Great acoustic guitar sound.

Bob is probably the finest National steel player in the world. His technique is frightening. A true master. Here he is dueting with Led Kaapana who plays incredible slack key acoustic guitar.
