	Nosferatu (1922) - Two-disc set [DVD] Buy used from: £4.00 Proof positive that old movies are scarier than new ones. Quite possibly the eeriest and most chilling vampire film EVER.
	The Hammer Story by Alan Barnes Buy used from: £15.80 The perfect (and very stylish) film companion. For all you Hammer Horror needs.
	Complete Vampire Chronicles: 4 in 1 by Anne Rice Buy new: £16.27 / Used from: £15.45 Four-in-one from the queen of modern gothic horror fiction. The first three are fabulous, the fourth is of lesser worth but still good.
	The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson Buy used from: £2.67 Ahh.. very scary indeed. Read it at night..in the dark..by candlelight. (Don't bother with the film though..)
	The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey Buy new: £3.73 / Used from: £1.42 Not really scary (unless you're Catholic) More an exploration of decadance, indulgence and personal freedom than anything particularly religious.
	The Evil Dead--Full Uncut Version [1982] with Special Features [DVD] Buy used from: £14.96 Bruce Campbell is God. A truly exceptional horror movie. A spectacular bloody triumph of imagination over expense.
	The Texas Chainsaw Massacre [DVD] [1999] Buy used from: £0.30 Genuinely horrific. Most definitely not for the squemish. Among the most bum-clenching, vomit-inducing, truly frightening films ever made.
	The Curse Of Frankenstein [VHS] [1957] Buy used from: £5.00 THE Hammer Horror classic. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee are both wonderful. A bit campy nowadays, but brilliant non-the-less.
	Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite Buy new: £5.47 / Used from: £1.99 More sick than really scary, but it has it's moments. Funkier than Anne Rice. A gay-themed, pop-culture referencing, vampire story with a difference (well, a number of differences actually..)
	The Penguin Book of Vampire Stories by Alan Ryan Buy used from: £7.25 An interesting, varied collection of vampire stories. Some much better than others.. but good overall.
	The History of Witchcraft and Demonology by Montague Summers Buy used from: £5.90 This bloke wrote a number of big books on things that go bump in the night. This one is excellent. Well-written, fact-packed, great for reference.
	The Blair Witch Project [DVD] [1999] Buy used from: £3.59 One of the scarier and more original films of recent years. Over-hyped, yes.. but still pretty scary.
	Books of Blood Omnibus: v. 1 by Clive Barker Buy new: £7.66 / Used from: £3.21 If Anne Rice is Queen of the damned then Clive Barker is King. Only Clive is scarier and more twisted (gotta love that..)
	Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Spike and Dru by James Marsters Buy used from: £3.15 Despite being more (ahem) angelic and Buffy-whipped these days, Spike is still the coolest, sexiest vamp on TV. See him here (in comic form) with wonderful old crazy flame Drusilla. Gory fun.
	The X Files: Season 2 [DVD] [1994] Buy used from: £9.71 Try and forget that this show out-stayed it's welcome by three or four years and just enjoy the brilliance of vintage Mulder and Scully.
	The Rocky Horror Picture Show (2 Disc Special Edition) [1975] [DVD] Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £3.89 What would a horror list be without the perrenial genre classic?? ;-) Dress up, sing along, throw rice. Go nuts. Be sexy. Have fun.
	The Monster Book (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) by Christopher Golden Buy used from: £0.01 Tons of fun, very insightful, hugely informative. All you could ever possibly want to know about the colourful scary monsters and super creeps that infest Joss Whedon's mind (and the Buffyverse.)
	Night Of The Living Dead (In Colour) [1968] [DVD] Buy new: £4.77 / Used from: £0.54 Another horror classic. Zombies this time round! Very cool, nice 'n' creepy.
	Suspiria [1976] 2 Disc Special Edition [DVD] Buy used from: £13.75 An underrated 1970's horror classic from Italian virtuoso director Dario Argento. If you've never experience Italian horror, start here. You won't forget this one in a hurry.
