My All Time Favourite Books
Pride and PrejudicePride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

I have loved this book since I was about nine. If you're feeling down, then this is a must read. It's a brilliantly witty story about so many things, and so many different types of people.
Bridget Jones: The Edge of ReasonBridget Jones: The Edge of Reason by Helen Fielding
Buy new: £5.99 / Used from: £0.01
This is sooo funny. I was in hysterics, particularly at the Colin Firth interview. I think it is much better than the first.
Notes from a Small IslandNotes from a Small Island by Bill Bryson
Buy new: £4.53 / Used from: £0.01
From fantastic travel writer Bill Bryson, it's sometimes hard to believe that what he writes is real. It's very funny to read what he thinks of us Brits. The 'Vodaphone Man' is hilarious.
Vanity Fair (Penguin Classics)Vanity Fair (Penguin Classics) by William Makepeace Thackeray

This book has got a really unique style, but I like the how spontaneous the whole novel is.
Anna Karenina (Oxford World's Classics)Anna Karenina (Oxford World's Classics) by Leo Tolstoy
Buy used from: £0.01
Although dark, the intricacy of the characters is unmatched.
Middlemarch (Oxford World's Classics)Middlemarch (Oxford World's Classics) by George Eliot
Buy used from: £0.01
This book is also very deep, and is a very good read, but not to Tolstoy's level. Very obviously by a woman though!
Mansfield Park (Penguin Popular Classics)Mansfield Park (Penguin Popular Classics) by Jane Austen
Buy new: £2.00 / Used from: £0.01
Probably Jane Austen's darkest novel, the way Fanny is seen by the superior all the way through is interesting in terms of her suppression.
Northanger Abbey (Penguin Popular Classics)Northanger Abbey (Penguin Popular Classics) by Jane Austen
Buy new: £2.00 / Used from: £0.01
Once one gets over the initial shock of the slightly bizarre style of the writing, it is fun. Very similar style to Austen's Juvenelia
Emma (Penguin Popular Classics)Emma (Penguin Popular Classics) by Jane Austen
Buy new: £2.00 / Used from: £0.01
Although as a character I can't stand Emma, the novel is very good, and although she gets the person she loves, Emma does in a way get her comeuppance.
Sense and Sensibility (Penguin Popular Classics)Sense and Sensibility (Penguin Popular Classics) by Jane Austen
Buy new: £2.00 / Used from: £0.01
Hopelessly romantic Marianne is at times pathetic, but on the other side Elinor is too sensible. However, the book itself is witty, and one can hate the characters but love the book!
