A Chronology of Star Wars games
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox Classics)Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox Classics)
Buy new: £47.95 / Used from: £9.94
The best SW game ever. A role-playing epic that every fan should own.
Star Wars: Obi-WanStar Wars: Obi-Wan
Buy new: £9.95 / Used from: £1.95
A naff Episode I cash-in. A little fun, but far from brilliant.
Star Wars Episode 1: Starfighter (PS2)Star Wars Episode 1: Starfighter (PS2)
Buy used from: £2.98
An entertaining arcade shooter. Probably the best Episode I tie-in.
Lucas Classic Line: Star Wars Episode 1 Racer (PC)Lucas Classic Line: Star Wars Episode 1 Racer (PC)
Buy used from: £5.19
Classic arcade racing, Star Wars style. Fast-paced fun.
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (PC CD)Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (PC CD)
Buy new: £6.25 / Used from: £1.25
Not a bad conversion of film-to-game, but can get very boring (particularly the Naboo levels).
Star Wars Episode 1: Battle for NabooStar Wars Episode 1: Battle for Naboo
Buy used from: £4.85
The people who brought you Rogue Squadron . . . go insane and make this rubbish! Lucas Arts trade quality for merchandising once more!
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (PS2)Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (PS2)
Buy used from: £7.30
A Hell of a lot of fun and packed with bounty hunters, Hutts and Dark Jedi. Voice acting by the people who played Jango and Zam in Episode II.
Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter (PS2)Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter (PS2)
Buy new: £39.95 / Used from: £2.50
Very similar to Starfighter, but with the added appeal of allowing you to get stuck into the Clone Wars.
Star Wars: Clone Wars (PS2)Star Wars: Clone Wars (PS2)
Buy new: £62.95 / Used from: £22.90
The Republic Gunship levels are great but the rest is fluff. They even managed to make running around with a lightsaber rubbish!
Star Wars: X-Wing Collection (PC CD)Star Wars: X-Wing Collection (PC CD)
Buy used from: £16.99
A real gem of Lucas Arts' back-catalogue. A bit dated, but still so much fun to play!
Star Wars: Dark Forces (PS)Star Wars: Dark Forces (PS)
Buy used from: £1.58
Very dated, but one of my favourite old-school FPS games. Hell, it's got Boba Fett and Darth Vader, what more do you want?
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (N64)Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (N64)
Buy used from: £2.20
A really fun game that's a cross between arcade shooter and flight-sim. The best bits involve tying up AT-ATs with a Snowspeer, or (in a bonus mission) flying your X-Wing down the Death Star trench!
Star Wars Rebel Assault 2Star Wars Rebel Assault 2
Buy used from: £0.48
A boring, repetetive game raised up considerably by it's great cinematic scenes. Make sure you find the 'movie' cheat so you can skip the actual gameplay (and I use the term loosely).
Star Wars - Shadows Of The Empire (N64)Star Wars - Shadows Of The Empire (N64)
Buy used from: £2.00
A largely disappointing action game, the Snowspeeder level and the final battle make up for it's shortcomings. Plus it's got Boba Fett!
Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance (PC CD)Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance (PC CD)
Buy new: £3.54 / Used from: £2.64
Second only to KOTOR among Star Wars games. Epic in scale with a truly vast array of missions, storylines and ships. There's even a way you can control a Super Star Destroyer in the custom battles!
Star Wars: Jedi Knight & The Mysteries of the Sith (PC CD)Star Wars: Jedi Knight & The Mysteries of the Sith (PC CD)
Buy new: £13.99 / Used from: £3.46
Another classic, this one breaks the barriers between First-person shooter and Third-person action. Also includes Mysteries Of The Sith featuring Mara Jade!
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (PC CD)Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (PC CD)
Buy used from: £3.98
Using all the elements that made Jedi Knight great, this game adds in fantastic graphics and Billy-Dee Williams reprising his role as Lando Calrissian. Beware of flaws in the game's physics though.
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (Xbox)Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (Xbox)
Buy new: £39.95 / Used from: £8.99
All the best bits of the other two Jedi Knight games, with none of the flaws. Ranks among the best ever Star Wars games. And, once again, it's got Boba Fett!
