Consciously designed to be a big hit, this is brilliantly produced. The title song is faultless, Ricochet is insane, Shake It is a forgotten classic.

Bowie's last substantial lead role in a film. Dreamlike and poetic.

For my money, Bowie's worst LP. Some great concepts and lyrics, but really badly misjudged covers and production.

Superficially good Terry Jones/Jim Henson collaboration that doesn't quite hang together. Within You is a great song.

Despite its reputation for overblown visuals, (including a metal-winged, abseiling Bowie) this is actually a lot more entertaining than Serious Moonlight.

Not the ignored classic some would claim it to be, but this is a very welcome experimental effort. The contributions from Mike Garson are a highlight.

Recorded quickly by most of Bowie's then live band, I can't help thinking this is overrated. Looking For Satellites is brilliant, but most of the songs are buried under messy drums and noisy guitar.

Trent Reznor's mini-album length remix of one of the better Earthling songs (a 1.Outside reject). Very good, and so was the video.

Another LP acclaimed as the best since Scary Monsters. Definitely the best since 1.Outside anyway. The return of Visconti as co-producer, some dated bass sounds, and several soaring, melancholy songs.

A well chosen set list and a pretty great band. A lack of subtlety, and some misjudged moments, but not many. The best of the live videos.

Easily the best book about Bowie ever. Comprehensively detailed, and full of insight and wit. And written by one of the actors who play Daleks in the new series of Doctor Who.
