The first and best thing anyone can do is to switch from Microsoft to OpenOffice.org. MS might be cheap but Microsoft is continuing its plan of charging full price if you don't update when told to.
StarOffice 6.0StarOffice 6.0
StarOffice is all right too but still far more expensive, OpenOffice.org is free and the book/CD combo listed is an extremely good value for the convenience of a CD and documentation all in one place.

I highly recommend the OpenOffice.org book and CD listed earlier, or the StarOffice Companion listed later, rather than this book.
Microsoft Office XP Standard for Students and TeachersMicrosoft Office XP Standard for Students and Teachers
This is going to be gone in five years. Also, the EU is looking at switching to all open source. So be ready, and switch now to OpenOffice.org before you have to do it in a hurry. : )
