Both tales are accompanied by the classic Tenniel illustrations.
	Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll Buy used from: £81.95 Both tales in lush little hardback volumes. Peake's illustrations are a refreshing change from the Tenniel and Disney incarnations that have long dominated readers' imaginations.
	Alice in Wonderland (Bloomsbury Classic) by Lewis Carroll Buy used from: £66.23 A gorgeous compact hardback edition with beautifully simple illustrations by Jeff Fischer.

	Still She Haunts Me by Katie Roiphe Buy used from: £0.01 Novel about Charles Dodgson (Carroll) and young Alice Liddell. Well written and controversial, though based on a Freudian reading of the Carroll myth that may not be accurate.
	Lewis Carroll - In the Shadow of the Dreamchild: New Understanding of Lewis Carroll by Karoline Leach Buy used from: £39.99 Another study of Dodgson. Effectively traces the origins of and debunks the popular mythology about the nature of his friendship with Alice Liddell. Essential reading.
	Alternative Alices: Visions and Revisions of Lewis Carroll's 'Alice' Books Buy new: £22.50 / Used from: £17.30 An anthology of many of the imitations and parodies of the Alice tales to have emerged. A fascinating look at a literary legacy.
	Alice In Wonderland [DVD] [1951] Buy used from: £18.46 Warbling musical numbers aside, the Disney rendering of the characters is endearing and enduring. The Chesire Cat gave me the creeps as a child.
	Alice [VHS] Film-maker and animator Jan Svankmajer's alternative and often disturbing take on the Alice tale. He also made a short film inspired by the poem The Jabberwocky from Through the Looking Glass.
	Alice Buy used from: £10.50 Yes, it's a computer game. A dark, brooding and haunted re-vision of an already bizarre tale. A tribute to Alice's iconic status at the start of a new century and a fine homage in a new medium.

	The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor Buy used from: £0.01 Essentially a riff on Frank Herbert's Dune saga set in a twisted Wonderland inspired by American Magee's video game. Unoriginal although not entirely without merit. Jury's still out.
