	The Iliad: New Prose Translation (Classics) by Homer Buy new: £6.96 / Used from: £0.01 simply the greatest story ever told. there's a reason it has been passed down for 3000 years.
	The Greek World after Alexander 323-30 BC (The Routledge History of the Ancient World) by Graham Shipley Buy new: £20.73 / Used from: £18.00 Graham Shipley is one of the most inspiring tutors i have ever had, and the nicest. this book is my bible for all things hellenistic. thank you.
	The Colour of Magic: The First Discworld Novel (A Discworld Novel) by Terry Pratchett Buy new: £4.79 / Used from: £0.01 the first in an amazing series of books by one of the funniest and cleverest men on this planet. every read of them yields more laughs. genius.
	Metamorphoses (Wordsworth Classics of World Literature) by Ovid Buy new: £3.99 / Used from: £0.79 one of the most beautiful poems ever written, and this is partly down to the elegant translation by some of the greatest poets of the 17th and 18th centuries.
	Cleopatra of Egypt: From History to Myth by Susan Walker Buy used from: £8.99 this book is one of the most interesting books i think i have ever read. Cleopatra is still such a bewitching woman, and this book encapsulates that.
	The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon Buy used from: £0.01 everyone i know who has read this book has loved it. i didn't think it would be my kind of thing, but i couldn't put it down and read it from cover to cover in one sitting. absolutely amazing.
	Yesterday Went Too Soon by Feeder Buy used from: £0.98 feeder were the first band i ever saw live, supported by a little known band called muse. it really upsets me that i have to go to an arena to see them now, so i have to make do with cds and memories.
	Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie Buy new: £7.98 / Used from: £3.24 skunk anansie were awesome. skin has the best voice i have ever heard. she crowd-surfed, singing Secretly, and didn't break a note. unbelievable.
	Shaun Of The Dead [DVD] [2004] Buy new: £4.48 / Used from: £1.09 a romantic comedy. with zombies. two of whom were my friends pete and louise. if you go still by still on the dvd, you might see them. not that you know them. ahem.
	Spaced: Complete Series 1 and 2 (Box Set) [DVD] [1999] Buy used from: £20.99 i know both series off by heart. sad i know. what can i say? Simon Pegg please marry me. that'll do.
	Phoenix Nights: Series 1 and 2 [DVD] Buy used from: £14.99 genius i hear you say? abso-bloody-exactly. i laughed so hard, i nearly fell off my chair. on more than one occasion.
	Grace: Legacy Edition by Jeff Buckley Buy used from: £9.49 beautiful. that's the only word that can describe it, and it doesn't do it justice.
	Ealing Comedy DVD Collection - The Ladykillers/Kind Hearts and Coronets/The Lavender Hill Mob/The Man in the White Suit [1955] Buy used from: £19.71 the ealing comedies are classic, timeless fun. Kind Hearts and Coronets is my favourite, but it's a photo finish.
	Tom McRae by Tom McRae Buy used from: £0.76 when i first heard this, i couldn't stop listening. over and over. his second album wasn't nearly as good, in my opinion, but anyone who doesn't own this is missing out on something special.
	Better Ways to Self Destruct by Easyworld Buy used from: £8.99 easily one of the most unappreciated bands around, mainly because for some reason they sound so much better live than they ever could on cd. not that that means the cd is bad, but see them live.
	Open Heart Zoo by Martin Grech Buy used from: £1.14 at times almost spiritual, at others just plain loud, this is a really good album. and i've never seen such a massive guitar pedalboard in my entire life - two stories!
	What Sound by Lamb Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £2.24 this band opened up a whole new type of music to me. and i had a very strange conversation with andy about teepees.
	Wuthering Heights (Collector's Library) by Emily Bronte Buy new: £4.79 / Used from: £0.01 yet another book that i did not want to stop reading. it's so dark and emotional, and very very wonderful.
	"Othello" (Arden Shakespeare.Third Series) by William Shakespeare Buy new: £8.17 / Used from: £1.69 i love shakespeare. the plays are timeless, and when well acted, they are a joy. i love to relive very good performances in my imagination. robert lindsay's richard III is a favourite.
	Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £1.99 breathtaking in its effect. these songs are more than that, the listener experiences pure emotion. the musicianship is mind-blowing as the band contains two previous members of at-the-drive-in.
