Very good, easy to read, covers all the physiology , better than the recommended text Berne and Levy, has nice flow diagrams summarise difficult concepts.

Buy new: £56.04 / Used from: £9.77 Hardly used a biochem text this year, but next year you might need one more as Yr 1 2006 has NEW MODULES and more cellular biology as currently we do too little! This one is ok, Baynes is good too.

Buy new: £20.09 / Used from: £9.50 Prof Smiths book - contains all you need to know if you fall asleep in her lectures (very likely) and useful for in-course assessments and PBLs... which are shamelessly lifted directly from it!

Buy new: £41.72 / Used from: £45.25 Prof Lote's book - in spite of his promotion of it lecture, it's actually good, no waffle and easy to read, covers all the renal - don't be surprised when diagrams from it turn up on exams!

Buy new: £23.82 / Used from: £21.99 An expensive doorstop. Easily the biggest waste of money this year as lecture and tutorial notes were enough for Neuro. I'm told it will be useful next year.

Buy new: £24.38 / Used from: £24.00 Got this from the library for extra info. Excellent book, covers everything, but between Prof Marshall's lecture notes, a physiology textbook, pharm and anatomy notes, cardio is pretty much covered.

Buy new: £14.06 / Used from: £12.00 Good for quick reference in anatomy tutorials, but some diagrams are over-simplified and not brilliant for revising, because it requires some anatomy knowledge to use it - so was useless for me!

Buy used from: £9.00 Despite the subject it's not a bad book. It's on the reading list, don't buy it though as lecture and tutorial notes are enough to pass you Behavioural Science - get it from the library.

Buy new: £22.94 / Used from: £4.33 Both this and Emery's are on the reading list for genetics, but lectures for genetics and support material on WebCT are brilliant (borderline excessive!) so get them from library if you need them.

Buy used from: £14.91 Good for learning about evidence based medicine, which the medical school (allegedly) will teach you about - and then set you an essay on! Useful for critical appraisal of journal papers for Firm 1.

Buy used from: £30.00 I got an old copy of this. Really didn't use it a lot, but better than others on reading list. Possibly more useful for 2006 Year 1 as there will be more emphasis on the basic underlying princples.
