	The Lord of the Rings (BBC Radio Collection) by J.R.R. Tolkien Buy used from: £12.00 I prefer this BBC radio version to the film, more scary in parts, less removed from the books. Makes good use of Tolkiens original prose, via a Narration
	Northern Lights (His Dark Materials 10th Anniversary Editions) by Philip Pullman Buy used from: £3.94 Another good starting point for the young reader, the first of Pullmans trillogy featuring rebbellion against God, dark Northern lands, Witches, etc
	Weber: Der Freischütz Buy new: £12.58 / Used from: £19.48 Webers great Opera, kind of like Faust meets William Tell.

	The Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake Buy new: £9.98 / Used from: £4.39 How could I of forgotten this? A brilliantly bizzare macarbe gothic high fantasy, but high fantasy in a very different way to Tolkiens works.
