	Cleopatra (3 Disc Special Edition) [1963] [DVD] Buy used from: £7.40 I suppose this was at the roots of my fascination too. Hollywood at its most spectacular.
	Caesar: The Life of a Colossus by Adrian Goldsworthy Buy new: £6.96 / Used from: £2.94 Fantastic holiday read, sparked my interest in Rome in general
	Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire by Simon Baker Buy new: £6.72 / Used from: £4.50 BBC series and this book introduced me to further colourful characters. At this point checked out /www.roman-empire.net for a full overview of Roman history
	Rome: The Complete HBO Season 1 (6 Disc Box Set) [DVD] [2005] Buy new: £16.88 / Used from: £8.00 Last Christmas. The Ceaser story bought even more vividly to life
	The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire (Penguin Classics) by Edward Gibbon Buy new: £8.07 / Used from: £5.34 Must read book of a lifetime. Literary masterpiece and tells you as much about today as antiquity.
	A History of Rome by Marcel Le Glay Buy used from: £12.73 A pretty good one volume overview from the beginnings to the end of the western empire
	Ancient Rome: A Military and Political History by Christopher S. Mackay Buy new: £13.55 / Used from: £6.99 Final level of detail on military/political and sources. Not for the beginner but fills in the gaps.
	The War with Hannibal: Bks. 21-30: The History of Rome from Its Foundation: The History of Rome from Its Foundation Bks. 21-30 (Classics) by Titus Livy Buy new: £8.97 / Used from: £5.95 Nearly forgot. Remember being thrilled by this in my twenties. Nearly time to read again.
