Excellent book giving an insight into the handling of the crisis and an interesting, if brief comparison of the workings of the Major and Blair administrations.

This is the daddy - the very best book about TSEs. Highly detailed yet readable. It is pitched somewhere between good popular science and academic text. It's a crime that it is out of print.

I guess this book does do what the publisher's description suggests but I just didn't enjoy it.

I think it's fair to suggest that this, in many places, is a polemical rant but you have to hand it to him - his thesis at the time that BSE was a serious risk to public health was extremely prescient

US oriented description of the problem of multiple resistant TB. Some contentious statements about the efficacy of the BCG and an interesting description of DOTS, if I remember correctly.

Mildly interesting. I found the writing style slightly annoying and you are left with the impression that the author doesn't have the best grasp of the subject. Not sorry I read it though.

I have used the earlier edition a great deal. A must have from my point of view.

Well written academic text on public policy and the use of science - not the best description of the BSE issue however.
