	Dear Zoo: Lift the Flaps by Rod Campbell Buy used from: £0.01 Another excellent lift-the-flap story
	Little Rabbit Foo Foo by Michael Rosen Buy new: £3.48 / Used from: £0.01 NAUGHTY Rabbit Foo Foo will have both children and adults in stitches with his very bad behaviour - but he gets his punishment in the end! A great story to read or sing together, excellent pictures.
	A Boy, a Dog, and a Frog (Boy, Dog, Frog) by Mercer Mayer Buy new: £4.20 / Used from: £1.44 Mercer Mayer drew this delightful series of books, with NO TEXT. They are so easy to look at and tell the story and are particularly good for story retelling and encouraging kids who hate reading!
	I Won't Bite! by Rod Campbell Buy new: £3.47 / Used from: £0.01 Touch and feel all the different animals - but watch out for the surprise at the end!
	The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle Buy new: £4.23 / Used from: £0.01 How could anyone go past the caterpillar who turns into a beautiful butterfly?
	Balloon (Collins picture lions) by Jez Alborough Buy used from: £0.01 Billy buys a balloon in the park and has lots of fun! Simple text with engaging rhyme and the best use of verbs I've come across! Excellent for language teaching and story retelling practise.
	Green Eggs and Ham (Dr Seuss Green Back Books) by Dr. Seuss Buy new: £3.57 / Used from: £0.98 I've just picked one of many fabulous Dr Seuss books. Some younger children find them too long and wordy, but the repetition in Green Eggs and Ham holds attention. Dr Seuss is the original genius!
	Peepo! (Viking Kestrel Picture Books) by Janet Ahlberg Buy new: £4.46 / Used from: £0.01 Allan Ahlberg's books have fascinating detail and simple text, that encourage looking and listening.
	The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson Buy new: £2.96 / Used from: £0.01 A new classic with lots of repetition and a clever story line that 4+ years will love.
	The Little Yellow Digger (Read by Reading Series) by Betty Gilderdale Buy used from: £2.98 For any motor-obsesed child this is a firm favorite. Many parents I know can recite this book off by heart! "... the day the digger came, and it poured and poured with rain"
	Rosie's Walk by Pat Hutchins Buy new: £3.38 / Used from: £0.01 Watch out for the fox! Another book with no words but a great story that encourages children to retell it again and again.
	Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak Buy new: £4.02 / Used from: £1.85 The classic story of imagination and adventure. I was too literal a child to like this but as an adult I LOVE it!
	One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish (Dr Seuss Blue Back Books) by Dr. Seuss Buy new: £3.48 / Used from: £0.60 Ok, I snuck in another Dr Seuss book - who can resist the rhymes? "From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere!"
	A Lion in the Meadow (Picture Puffin) by Margaret Mahy Buy new: £4.46 / Used from: £0.84 What if your mother doesn't believe you when you tell her there's a lion in the meadow? Margaret Mahy is a wonderful NZ author.
	Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (Picture Puffin) by Eric Carle Buy new: £4.08 / Used from: £0.98 Gentle rhymes that lend themselves to all sorts of create-your-own rhyming play
	Cars, Trucks and Things That Go by Richard Scarry Buy used from: £5.00 As a child I spent hours poring over the details and spotting the mice on each page - as a therapist I get my kids get to discover the magic.
	Bears in the Night (Bright & Early Books) by Stan Berenstain Buy new: £3.57 / Used from: £0.01 Fabulous for re-telling and for practising position words.
	Gossie (Maisy) by Olivier Dunrea Buy new: £3.99 / Used from: £0.01 The story of a small yellow gosling who loves her red boots. This is the first book in a series, the simple language and stories make them captivating for young children.
	Five Little Ducks (Classic Board Books with Holes) by Penny Ives Buy new: £2.97 / Used from: £0.01 The 'Classic Books with Holes' series retell popular nursery rhymes in very appealing ways. Children will ask for these again and again.
	The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr Buy new: £2.99 / Used from: £1.45 What would you do if a tiger arrived at your house for tea? The simple plot and lovely pictures make it excellent for children to practise story re-telling and thinking 'what next?'
	A Child's Treasury of Nursery Rhymes [With CD] by Kady MacDonald Denton Buy used from: £5.91 I bought this book and cd for a friend's niece who speaks another language. She has learned all the rhymes by heart in English and the whole family adore it!
