	The Gates of Rome (Emperor) by Conn Iggulden Buy new: £4.96 / Used from: £0.01 The author adds a new twist to the story of Julius Caesar. The following three are just as good as this brilliant first novel.
	The Winter King (A Novel of Arthur: The Warlord Chronicles) by Bernard Cornwell Buy used from: £0.22 Historical fiction at its very best.
	1984 Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell Buy used from: £0.99 A really great book. Captivating.
	Crime and Punishment (Penguin Popular Classics) by Fyodor Dostoyevsky Buy new: £2.16 / Used from: £0.01 Similar to 1984, this book is very dark but still very enjoyable.
	The Picture of Dorian Gray (Penguin Popular Classics) by Oscar Wilde Buy new: £2.16 / Used from: £0.01 This book has it all; humour and depravity but with a clear moral message.
	Imperium by Robert Harris Buy new: £11.69 / Used from: £2.45 Spectacular thriller - just a shame the book ends where it does.
	William Pitt the Younger: A Biography by William Hague Buy new: £6.96 / Used from: £1.70 The author brings the era, and man, to life in this great account of one of the worlds great national leaders.
	Ancient Rome, the Rise and Fall of an Empire by Simon Baker Buy new: £16.14 / Used from: £8.83 This book is a must-read for anyone interested in ancient Rome.
	Harlequin (The Grail Quest) by Bernard Cornwell Buy used from: £0.01 Thomas of Hookton is a wonderful character - the three follow books are great too.
	Angels and Demons by Dan Brown Buy new: £5.08 / Used from: £0.01 Better than the Da Vinci Code. It may be unrealistic, but it certainly isn't unenjoyable.
	The Last Juror by John Grisham Buy new: £4.99 / Used from: £0.01 The author is a master story teller and this one is my favourite.
