The Earthsea Quartet: "A Wizard Of Earthsea"; "The Tombs of Atuan"; "The Farthest Shore"; "Tehanu" (Puffin Books)The Earthsea Quartet: "A Wizard Of Earthsea"; "The Tombs of Atuan"; "The Farthest Shore"; "Tehanu" (Puffin Books) by Ursula Le Guin
Buy new: £5.99 / Used from: £3.46
I know Tehanu isn't overly loved, but personally I thought it was wonderful; perhaps because like Atuan, there was a female protaganist... and a touch of romance. A spellbinding quartet ; )

Who can argue with Harry Potter?
The Lord of the Rings (3 Book Box set)The Lord of the Rings (3 Book Box set) by J.R.R. Tolkien
Buy new: £11.96 / Used from: £7.99
Amazing triology, and probably the best thing I've ever read. I particularly enjoyed 'Return of the King.' These books can be read over and over again.

The first book that ever made me cry! Strong themes of love and religion.
The Mists of Avalon (Mists of Avalon 1)The Mists of Avalon (Mists of Avalon 1) by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Buy new: £6.46 / Used from: £2.86
This was my first Legend of Arthur book, and I throughly enjoyed it. Perfect balance of romance, magic, mystery and betrayal, with an endearing cast of characters.
The Princess BrideThe Princess Bride by William Goldman
Buy new: £5.96 / Used from: £0.07
You may have seen the film, but the book is better as it has far more material. It's terribly funny, but cleverly so. It's rare that a book can make you care about the bad guys as well as the good.
StardustStardust by Neil Gaiman
Buy used from: £0.15
Gaiman truly has some of the best villains. A romantic, clever and truly imaginative plot.
SabrielSabriel by Garth Nix
Buy used from: £0.01
Garth Nix has created a truly wonderful world in this book. And, exactly as I like it, there's the splash of romance amidst all the mystery, discovery and adventure.
The Eye of the World (Wheel of Time)The Eye of the World (Wheel of Time) by Robert Jordan
Buy new: £6.99 / Used from: £1.45
Don't let the slow beginning put you off. This is a real page-turner with a thick fantasy/adventure plot. You'll be dying to get yout hands on the next book in the series!
The Shadow Rising (Wheel of Time)The Shadow Rising (Wheel of Time) by Robert Jordan
Buy new: £6.99 / Used from: £2.25
Eek. If I have to recommend only one more book in the Wheel of Time series (despite loving them all), it's this one. Nynaeve and Lan!
Wizard's First Rule: Book 1: The Sword Of Truth Series: Wizard's First Rule Bk.1Wizard's First Rule: Book 1: The Sword Of Truth Series: Wizard's First Rule Bk.1 by Terry Goodkind
Buy used from: £0.55
A terrific read. Swords, wizards, dragons and magic. Witty and romantic. Word of warning though - you might not want to bother reading the rest of the series. It's not too sad, just poor quality.
A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 1)A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 1) by George R.R. Martin
Buy new: £4.79 / Used from: £1.95
This whole series is fantastic. It strays a little from my usual reading (less happy endings) but I can almost guarentee you'll be addicted anyway. No black or white characters - they're all gray.
