Dr Robin Pauc, an expert in child neurology, approaches learning difficulties, including Dyslexia, ADD, OCD, ADHD, Dyspraxia and Tourette's syndrome of childhood, from a truly ground-breaking perspective. All human babies are born prematurely and develop special new brain cells four months after birth. Every human's developement in the womb and particularly in these early stages of life can, therefore, be affected by devlepement delay, which can blight childhood and marginalize a child at school. Since our brains continue to grow, however, the symptoms can also be treated. Is That My Child? Explains the backround to human developmental delay and contains: * Advice on how to get the best assessment for your child and an explanation of what the examination must include; * The effects - good and bad - of certain foods on the brain, * Excercises and computer programs that you can use to expand your child's neural function, * Case histories of children on whom this plan has worked. In the single biggest breakthorough in the history of learning difficulties, Is That My Child? explains the cause of Development Delay Syndromes, uses simple, easy-to-follow tips to show you how to greatly reduce the risk of your child suffering, and gives advice on what can be done to treat those children that do.

From the Author
Although primarily written for the parents of children with learning/behavioural difficulties and educators, this book is a must for every parent and would-be parent. Why? Because it brings together a host of research to form a theory that is truly ground-breaking. This book will change your child’s life. Is That My Child? explains why every human baby is born prematurely by months, how four months after birth a second-wave of brain cells develop and how if these cells under-function, learning and behavioural difficulties will result. This book also states boldly that dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, OCD and Tourette’s of childhood simply do not exist. That is, they do not exist in isolation as they are only symptoms of this underlying problem and are not conditions in their own right. The good news for every concerned parent is that the discovery of bpoptosis – the name I have given to the development and maturation of the second-wave of brain cells – means!
we now know what causes the symptoms and therefore can effectively treat any developmental delay.

Judge for yourself
I agree that the author mentions his clinic far more often than necessary, but still, I'm surprised at the negativity of some reviewers. "Quackery" ? Chiropractitioners have to study extensively, including pretty detailed anatomy and physiology . Our GP however, who is obviously qualified though not perhaps expert, I would only trust her with basic medical issues... I wouldn't approach her regarding issues such as learning difficulties as she is from the "take a pill and stop whingeing" end of the medical spectrum. I'm a qualified nurse and have two boys with "dyspraxic tendencies" (identified originally by a teacher) and I'm open to suggestions and theories. Knowledge and understanding is still developing in this field after all. I don't consider myself easily "brainwashed" or "duped". I found this book interesting and informative and many reviewers seemed to think the same. I found it pulled together a number of ideas I had seen before, but in a useful way...and my kids love many of the recipes. I'm off to buy the next book which has the "standing on one leg while brushing your teeth" exercise...and why not? Give this book a try...it might help you and yours.
the hard sell
This book seems to me much like the dore programme,an advertisement for the hard sell. Parents like us who want the best for our children can be lulled into thinking that putting our children's future treament into the hands of unqualified therapists is the way forward. It is not.I researched and found that only Qualified medical specialists see the whole picture and dont claim a cure. I went down the behavioural Optomitrey route no hard sell, diet and individual physical prescription at a fraction of the cost and no self promotion involved.A doctor is a doctor a chiropracter is a chiroprater beware of the hard sell.
Is That My Child? Review of book and programme
I bought the book in summer 2006 after having looked at a number of avenues. My child was borderline ADHD so the NHS said. I read the book and started implementing the strategies that Dr Pauc recommended. We noticed a slight change. I then contacted Tinsley House Clinic and arranged for an assessment. Cut a long story short we are now 4 months into the programme and I cannot believe the child in front of my eyes. He\is calm relaxed, communicating as a 10 year old should, energetic and no longer fighting against us. I was a sceptic before, but my goodness what results expert support, guidance and determination can do. Good luck to all those out there who are faced with ADD and ADHD.
