Customer Reviews

Good and flexible in parts. Perhaps slightly over cautious.4
After a couple of months I've been impressed with NetNanny. I especially like the ability to alter settings a per-user basis over the web from any PC. I can login from work / a laptop downstairs etc. and adjust permissions when they need to change.

The time restrictions don't have a "45" minute a day option which our previous software did but that's a minor item.

Many images net nanny doesn't recognise are classed as "pornographic" or "adult" so I get a lot of warnings emailed to me when the Children look at 70's album covers etc. and exchange images via MSN.

I like the email warnings as it lets me know when I should perhaps alter settings.

I can set things to any of Block/Allow/Warn. Warn allow the child can decide to view but knows I have been informed too which is valuable.

Very happy with this so far.

great product, glitch free, comprehensive filtering5
i tried installing several trials of filtering software. most of them were very buggy, or didnt provide intelligent filtering. some of them were ridiculously difficult to uninstall. netnanny seemed to work and install fine. easy to configure, and good set of filter criteria to choose what needs filtering for different users.

i ordered two pc versions. both boxes were pc versions, but for some reason the disk inside one was a mac disk. i emailed netnanny support and they were very helpful and exchanged my licence key without hassle.

yearly subscription is a cost, but well worth it.

It Caused My Computer to Crash1
Do not buy. The instillation of the software caused the computer to crash. I was forced to complete a factory reset to get the computer working again. Luckily for me I was trying to install onto a brand new computer - so didn't lose much data, however it is a very time consuming thing to do. I contacted Net Nanny, who eventually replied saying it was probably a configuration problem with my Norton anti virus software. I disabled Norton, as instructed, and re loaded Net Nanny - which worked until I turned on the anti virus, then the computer crashed - requiring a second factory reset! I contacted the makers again - who asked for files and details of the computer system, however several weeks later they still haven't responded to explain what the problem was, never mind provide a solution. The customer Care team at Net Nanny were no help whatsoever. I had to continually chase them to try and get an answer - but am still waiting.
I have since removed and returned Net Nanny to Amazon - and my computer is running as normal.
