Product Description

Four officers of the Crown, aided by Bastion Club members and Cynster alike, fight to bring down a dangerous enemy- and to win the loves of their lives. In this first book we meet Colonel Derek Delborough who is not far from danger when his ship docks in Southampton. When Deliah Duncannon appears she is an unwelcome intrusion, but before he can get rid of her she narrowly saves his life. Now a target of the enemies to this stubborn but exceedingly enticing Colonel, the two race against time to reach the safety of the Cynster country house.

Struggled to finish it...3
TBH, I'm starting to find this author repetitive and faintly boring. IMHO, she takes 'stock' phrases and uses them everywhere, and now each book sounds just like the last one. This started off with a VERY long prologue that really didn't contribute much to the plot or characterization - a quick summary would have been just as relevant (and less boring). There was no chemistry between the two main characters - principally because all the phrases and description she used for them have been used in at least 4 other books of her I've read before!
And how was she an 'untamed bride'? She's just feisty - rather like every other Laurens heroine.
I won't be buying the others. I think her writing style has really fallen off (badly) - I doubt I will buy any more of her books at all.

Fabulous5
This is such an exciting book. The characters are very engaging, Del and Deliah (not Delilah) are very strong characters, and we get to meet some of our other heros and heroines again. The book trots along quite nicely and such a great storyline. I am waiting with bated breath for the next installment to be published.

A fun frolic3
An enjoyable book in the genre of Miss Congeniality visits Regency England(?). Historical accuracy is suspect but the fast pace means that this is not a big issue.

Reference to the Cynsters and the Bastion Club is a bit spurious and does not really enhance the story.

However, if you enjoyed most of the Bastion Club books, you will like this one.
