Customer Reviews

Excellent book!5
I have been an acting coach for years. Lately, I have been referring this book to my students. The monologues are wonderful and are very entertaining. They are written in a way that help my students truly act and get into character, rather than just recite the words. The pieces leave room for the actor to react, which is such a key eliment in this form of art. In addition, I also appreciate how this book offers so many different character types for all ages of women. This is a very useful book for audition material and practicing purposes. I highly recommend it to all actors and fellow instructors.

Very low quality writing1
This book is not a collection of monologues gathered from fine writers, but a collection of shallow, undeveloped little speeches all written by the same person. It was extremely disappointing to receive and read. I am a professional acting coach and actor and believe that this is not a useful book for professional actors or those aspiring to be so. Actors should work with the finest writing from the finest playwrights and screen-writers. These monologues are shallow and uninteresting with poorly developed characters and superficial emotions. Not recommended! there are many collections of great monologues from great sources that are much more useful.
