![]() | Chronos CD The Chronos CD is an elegant, compact, DAB/CD clock radio, which delivers superb digital-quality audio from its stereo speakers, fitting the maximum audio performance into the minimum space. Chronos CD has easy-to-use bedside features including four completely independent alarms that can be set for weekdays, weekends, daily or as one offs – each with the choice of waking up to either DAB digital radio, FM, CD or a simple tone alarm. A sleep timer allows you to drop off to your favourite station and the all-important snooze button is easy to find, with an adjustable snooze time for an extra lie-in when you deserve it. The light sensor adjusts the display brightness to suit the ambient light in your room, and handy front-panel connectors enable you to play an iPod/MP3 player through the stereo speakers and to connect headphones. For the ultimate in convenience, Chronos CD is supplied with its own infrared remote control so you can operate all of the main functions and features even if it is on the other side of the bedroom. Whether you want to listen to your favourite audio or MP3 CD in the kitchen or wake to crystal-clear DAB radio in the bedroom, Chronos CD is the perfect choice. |

| With Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) you’ll discover a broader range of music, debate and ideas, all in crystal clear digital sound. |
Ease-Of-Use
Digital radios are much easier to use than analogue radios because they automatically search for all available stations. Once the radio has found all the available stations you just choose the one you want by name. No more trying to remember frequencies.
Wider Station Choice
With up to 55 DAB stations available in many areas, and more on the way, you’ll be spoilt for choice. As well as existing favourites like BBC radios 1-4, BBC radio 5 live, Classic FM and talkSPORT, there are also great exclusive-to-digital stations such as BBC 1Xtra, BBC 5 live Sports Extra, BBC 6 Music, BBC 7 and Planet Rock.
Digital Sound Quality
DAB is crackle-clear and hiss-free because it’s not subject to the same interference as analogue radio.
DAB Stations
There's more listening choice on DAB too. These great stations and many more are available in the UK on DAB digital radio. As DAB coverage varies, remember to check which stations are available in your area.

Customer Reviews
Great sound from a compact all-rounder!
Pros:
Great sound with little distortion from such a small unit. CD sound is clear and has plenty of bass.
DAB signal is strong and display is very clear.
Handy autotune takes hassle out of homing in on over 50 stations.
Cons:
Remote control sometimes takes a few presses to respond and has limited range.
Buttons on the radio front need a firm press to activate.
Overall a good value for money product that is well designed. Good looks and good sound too. Highly recommended.
Good things sometimes come in small packages!
Very little to be negative about. Good sound, very versatile settings, the radio seems quite sensitive, even with the silly wire aerial and the CD sound is perfectly adequate to all but perfectionists. You can use headphones (proper ones, not those painful plastic things). It does what it says on the box - that's all you can ask. I also like the light-sensing display. I just hope it's reliable - I may change my mind if it breaks!
Big on functionality thin-ish on sound quality
I was looking to replace the mess of wires that was the hi-fi unit in our kitchen; this unit comprised a CD player, cassette player and radio. With some Heath Robinson DAB contraption using an extra plug point and further gadgetry to allow mp3 players to play!
I was desperate to find something compact, which ran off ONE plug and which would have an auxiliary access point for an mp3 player cable (we have three different mp3 players in our house - none of them iPod). Incorporated DAB radio was also high on my wish list - if the thing looked half-way decent I would also be happy. The cassette player was not an issue :)
Enter the PURE Chronos CD DAB:
Radio (DAB & FM);
CD player (which plays mp3 CDs but the random play algorithm is iffy);
Alarm Clock;
Auxiliary port for mp3 player cable (lets any mp3 play);
compact;
remote control;
stylish, and
bonus points as the unit arrived with the clock set to the right time and all the radio presets set.
The only fly in the ointment is the sound quality. The hi-fi has a fulsome, meaty sound with good bass, the Chronos is comparatively light and thin even after playing around with settings. The volume is good and is more than adequate for the room size.
Sound purists will have issues with this, but from my point of view the functionality, style and size of the PURE Chronos is marvellous.
