review Diabetes for Dummies5
Excellent book - explains everthing about diabetes in terms that even a dummy like me can understand. Have just ordered 2 more copies as presents for friends, (if I lend them this copy I'll definitely never see it again) and a copy of the cookbook in the series for myself.

A MUST-READ for the newly diagnosed5
Alan Rubin's excellent guide to diabetes is straight-forward, hard-hitting, factual, practical, and easy to get to grips with. It remains one of the two books I refer to regularly, the other being Richard Bernstein's 'Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution', which is even more useful (but a touch extreme). Together they give a full picture of this fascinating, complex and nasty disease plus a patient-centred approach to controlling blood glucose levels which actually works for those prepared to follow the Bernstein regime. The recipes in both books are a weak point but this is a minor quibble.
