Customer Reviews
Awful cheap rip off.
Bit of a rip off this double DVD, as the playing time is only 114 minutes.
So why not put it on a single disc?
Also if you know your Bolan there's nothing new to be learnt from these so-called 'insiders' except from the people who were actually there, BP Fallon, Chris Welch and Paul Fenton. The rest of the critics consist of unknowledgeable fans, modern day journalists and industry folk who never even knew Marc Bolan.
Also forget about using the 5.1 surround sound option because the quality is terrible. Background noise on the interviews is exaggerated and with the poor quality of the source material you'd be lucky to here even stereo sound. Marc deserves better that this, with the choice of footage here very hap-hazard ie. when the interviewees talk about how exciting Ride A White Swan sounds I want to hear it blasting out of the speakers but what do I get? Mono 'live' versions from European TV. Great in the correct context but not here when they're trying to give critical insight into the recorded studio versions. The same can be said of Get It On, Jeepster, Telegram Sam, 20th Century Boy - all live versions. It's not until half way through the first DVD that we actually hear a studio recorded track, Lean Woman Blues.
The second DVD is the more enjoyable with some interesting video effects, but again, when discussing the fabulous New York City and how it was a return to form we see the live mono version from Christmas Supersonic 1976 which sounds nothing like the hit single.
Watch once and then listen to a T-Rex CD and form your own opinion.
For what it's worth here are the
marks they give the eight LP's
T-Rex 4/5
Electric Warrior 5/5
The Slider 5/5
Tanx 3/5
Zinc Alloy - 2/5
Bolan's Zip Gun 2/5
Futuristic Dragon 3/5
Dandy In The Underworld 4/5
