The Rough Guide to Babies & Toddlers is the funny, reassuring and practical guide that all new (and old) parents have been looking for – with no judgmental guru-speak about the right way to do things, just a range of great solutions for you to choose from. Written by the award-winning author Kaz Cooke, an author and mother whose trademark light-hearted practical style and witty cartoons make this book pleasurable as well as informative. The user-friendly sections are inspired by real-life – chapters include ‘Getting through the first weeks’, which gives new mums and dads the low-down on bosoms, bottles, bonding, the blues, and mum’s post-baby body. Realistic and with a healthy sense of humour, the guide offers practical suggestions for dozens of scenarios you might encounter with your new bundle of joy or little terror, as well as addressing what you might be going through as new parents – don’t miss the hilarious “How to Be Perfect” routine for new mums: adjust push-up bra, exfoliate feet, clean up sick! The eagerly awaited sequel to the best-selling The Rough Guide to Pregnancy & Birth is finally here to save your sanity with good advice, great humour and a lot of understanding!

Customer Reviews
A must for all Parents
I loved this book - it was fantastic! Kaz Cooke is a great writer, she is funny, witty and entertaining, which was a real bonus for such an informative read. From Bosoms and Bottoms to Using the toilet the book is a wealth of very useful information. It is written in a very non `know it all' way, quite a change to a lot of other books that make you feel like a parental failure!
I think there is just enough detail in this book, it's not too wordy or long winded and you can easily find the answer you're looking for. I thought the book was well laid out covering all the topics any parent might need. The section on Health was particularly good, my daughter had just got Chicken Pox and a quick read set my mind at rest. I also like the other book suggestions - which are spot on!
Thank you Kaz Cooke for a refreshing new book on a much covered topic. Sarah Hadfield, Mother of Sam 4 and Jess 1.
Refreshingly non-opinionated!
This book is brilliant, as a mother of three I don't have much time to read books and the very clear and extremely detailed contents page is great for picking out what is relevant to read right now e.g. last night I read on thumb sucking for my 5 year old and dropping to one nap for my 1 year old.
If you do have more time, Kaz Cooke's writing style makes the book easy and fun to read so you could sit down with a cup of tea and read chunks at a time if you preferred. Above everything else this book does not leave you with a feeling that you are having someone elses opinion rammed down your throat but that you have a choice in what you do as a parent and these are laid out for you in a way that you can pick what is best for you.
If you are going to buy a parenting/baby book I would strongly recommend getting this one above others I have. This book covers everything you are ever likely to want to know about: from how to bath a baby through to an analysis of the different parenting styles you can adopt and if you want to know more on any subject there is an excellent "more info" section at the end of each chapter with a list of relevant websites, associations and books (including fun books
light hearted read!
I loved the Rough Guide to Pregnancy and Birth, so was so happy to discover that there was a follow up with Babies and Toddlers. Again liked the informal writing style, and the common sense suggestions. Also like the way that each chapter gives you useful links and further reading, so that you can find other guidance if needed.
