unusual gripping tale of love and hatred
A stranger to Ms Tanner's work I was pleasantly surprised by this unusual work. It is a story of Love and hate, betrayal and loyalty, jealousy and sacrifice. The plot is strong and has the can't put down factor beginning with the murder of Flora's father and stretching between France and England at the time of the French revolution.Left destitute Flora is taken in by rich relatives and becomes involved in the plots and secrets of which abound in Belvedere House including the conflict between brothers. The characters are well described and very human. Rather than claiming is romance or mystery or historical fiction I think it should be classed as general fiction as it should appeal to a wide range of readers
