Average customer review:Product Description
This photocopiable book is full of innovative, user friendly, exciting and unusual activities that promote creative thinking and problem solving skills in upper KS2. The activities in this book are ideal for less intensive teaching times across the school year - at the end of term (particularly after SATs in Year 6), at the beginning of term when a teacher wants to get to know the class or just when a teacher wants to do 'something different' to make pupils think 'outside the box'. The challenges in this book make an exciting change from the strictly subject-based lessons and would be ideal for supply teachers or LSAs. All the activities have been tried and tested in the classroom many times by the author who is an experienced teacher.

Customer Reviews
Perfect for this half term!
If, like me, you have just taken your Year 6 class through the gruelling experience of SATs and you are looking for something worthwhile but enjoyable to do with them, then this book is what you are looking for.
Some of the tasks in this book could be stetched to make a whole project if you do the suggested extension activities as well - wonderful for Year 6s about to leave primary school and in need of doing something a bit different and as a reward for getting through SATs.
I have to add - that this book has made me smile a fair few times as some of the ideas are wonderfully quirky (just the sort my class will love). However, for less adventurous lessons, there are also some more 'straightforward' problem solving and investigative tasks - which I am sure my class will enjoy too as the creatve opportunities are still there -by outcome.
I feel I have treated myself and my class and it's great not to have to come up with this type of idea myself - as I am worn out!
Great Ideas
It's half term and I have just received my copies of both Outside the Box 9-11 and the one for ages 7-9 and it's almost making me want to go back to school now! I have looked through the books and am itching to do lots of the activites as I know my Year 6 class will really enjoy them.
I have (and I don't normally bother) also looked at the teachers' notes and realised that they too are full of ideas - especially in the extension activites that are suggested for each activity.
Fantastic Resource
This book is brilliant! So often I buy resource books and then only use one or two ideas but with this book I will be using every single one! The activities are actually really simple but so effective. I used the impossible foods activity with my Y5's today and they were so enthusiastic and receptive. I will definately be buying more resource books by this author.
