Product Description

This work is a step-by-step programme for parents, teachers and other professionals to help develop the non-verbal, verbal and social reciprocity skills of children with autism. It covers how to communicate with children with autism and "how to" techniques for developing language skills. Specifically addressing developmental delays, the text helps to lay the necessary framework for future language growth by turning the actions the child initiates into interactions with meaning. This is a user-friendly guide, complete with child-centred exercises that can be carried out at home or the classroom.

Non-verbal Children with Autism4
I am a Speech and Language Therapist specialising in Autism. I am very pleased with this book. It can be very difficult to explain how to connect with a child through play but this book does it all. It is very easy to understand for parents. There are hundreds of ideas of how to make a connection with the child through play. It follows up written instructions with pictures. I believe this book is a must for parents of children of autism - even older kids who have not yet established communication intent. Professionals will find this book a valuable resource.

Giggle Time4
This was a great book, full of fun and ideas that have worked with my son. I would have liked it to go a bit further with talking about children in the upper ability ranges. It has a lot to say about young children.

Mainly for the Pre-Verbal Child4
A great book which would be helpful, for instance, to those with toddlers just diagnosed on the spectrum who aren't really connecting, or for children on the more severe end. I bought this book but took the long road earlier on to helping my child attain these skills. More for the pre-verbal/emergent I would say. Very well explained step by step. Good one for an educated dad to read who says he wants to help but has forgotten how to play as routines are illustrated with photos.

It is beautifully communicated - each section starts with a letter to a particular child, from which you find which personality aspects and profile relates to your child.

Definitely a Goodie but as I say, I missed it when I needed it.
