Super replacement for unreliable Swan Teasmade5
The automatic facility on our second Swan Teasmade stopped working. It was the second one, the first having been replaced under guarantee. So we bought the Micromark and it is excellent. There are only 2 very minor gripes that don't affect the way it works at all. One is that the jug can easily move and turn off the heater switch. I solved that by putting a small piece of non-slip material under the jug. The other is if you look at the LCD clock straight on you can't see the hands. But you can see them fine from any other angle. That doesn't affect the operation at all and in every other way it is absolutely super.

I don't understand why anyone would want the alarm to go off before the water boils, The Swan's flat top is useful but no compensation for it's unreliability or difficulty in setting the clock & alarm, If you mean the light to set it has to be held, that is cured by a piece of non-slip stuff under the jug as mentioned above, the clock backlight is bright but not as bad as the one on the Swan.

Tea Express: at last a modern teasmade.4
The Tea Express was purchased to replace a Swan teasmade that had become very unreliable. The styling of the Express is much more modern, and the teapot is reliable...it doesn't need to be propped up against the connection spring like the Swan's did, to stop it disconnecting itself in the night and leaving you late for work with no tea!
Filling is easy. The tank takes exactly one teapot-full. The clock is huge and easy to set, and doesn't tick loudly like the Swan's did...though its hands are strangely invisible from any angle except straight ahead. The light is a gentle green which does not disturb at night, then flashes you awake in the morning. The high-pitched alarm goes off as soon as the kettle boils, so you do have to wait a short while for the tea to brew. It doesn't have a tray like the Swan, but all in all it is much the better of the only two teasmades on the market.

So far, so good!5

I purchased one of these to replace the previous Micromark version I had which did not last very long at all... (I don't think it made it to the end of its guarantee!) However, so far, this one has been better, and unlike the Swan model (see my Review for that one) does not make the tea taste funny because the water tank is not coated in 'Teflon' stuff. It's simple to operate, the light is useful and bright, and I like the alternative style of clock face/dial that glows a soft green with 'magic' hands.

When I purchased this one, they did not do a model with a Radio Alarm, and so now I'm going to have to purchase one of those!
