A great value, quality mouse for your laptop
I was previously using the Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse - which, although a very good basic mouse, has a rather annoying scroll wheel that clicks loudly (it gets more annoying with time) and just becomes a pain to use.

So I decided to buy this - the Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 to ease my pain. I have found it a pleasure to use. It is comfortable to hold and works perfectly with the provided software. The buttons have a very nice click to them and the rubber sides provide grip.

Microsoft's High Definition Optical Technology means that you don't have to move the mouse around so much to get the pointer around the screen - good when using in small spaces such as a messy desk, or if you are just lazy like me and don't want to move any more than is absolutely necessary.

The scroll wheel is also a joy to use - it is completely smooth and has no clicking sound whatsoever. You can also scroll sideways (useful for some websites and excel documents), however, the sideways scroll is not smooth like the regular scroll and involves simply pushing the scroll wheel to one side, making a clicking noise!!! But it's not too loud and most people are unlikely to use it very often.

On the negative side: the middle mouse button is rather stiff and makes a very loud clicking noise when pressed. I'm not a big fan of the design/colours etc., particularly the big silver streak through the middle with 'Microsoft' emblazoned on it.

Overall though, I'd heartily recommend this mouse for laptop use

Wonderful compact design
I find the trackpad on my laptop O.K. to use for short periods of time when I am composing a e-mail or word document on the train or in a cafe, but for more substansial use I need a mouse. This is a perfect option the device is so small it fits easily into my already over packed laptop bag without a problem. I can even use it on the train without annying the person next to me when I use my smaller 11" laptop.

The size is not a problem as it fits into your hand perfecly, I would not recomend using it for too long as it is stll a little too small for long term comfort. The opics are still very precice and compare well to larger models.

Great little mouse
I've had this for a couple of months now and have found it excellent. It's small size and rubber grip make it a real pleasure to use. Best mouse I've ever used and works with no problems on my macbook too.
