Manufacturer's Description
Where ever you are secure your Notebook with Hama's Notebook Lock. In the office, at a conference, the cable simply goes around a fixed object and then loops back through itself, then fix the lock to the security slot on your notebook. very good value but fiddly
If you want an inexpensive lock for your laptop/notebook then look no further. I agree with the other reviewer that the instructions for changing the combination are worse than useless but by trial and error I have managed to achieve this using the prong of a fork. At the base of the lock where the cable attaches is a little button. If this is pushed in (with the prong of a fork for example) the combination can then be changed to one of your own choosing but only if the button is pressed all the way in. Attaching and removing it from the notebook is a little fiddly but it feels very secure once in place.
lost in translation
product arrived on time and well packaged. it doesn't appear to be as robust as some of the security cables i have seen, but lets be honest, i specifically chose this cable based on the low price. my reason for the the low rating is, that i can't figure out how to change the combination from the factory setting !!! the instructions amount to a few lines on the back of the box in broken english with no diagrams, and despite my best efforts, and intervention from a number of friends/colleagues we can't figure it out. i visited the manufacturer site for support, and unfortunately it is all in german with no english translation. perhaps if i had spent more money, i would ne more persistent, but it really shouldn't be that difficult to supply clear instructions for something so fundamental to the cables use. my advice .. if you can afford it, splash a bit more cash i guess.
