Three crackers from the "pretty boys of pop"
The release of this boxset comes at a time when duranduran are once again reorganising the team, with the departure of the "new boy" Warren and the arrival of the Taylors times three for 2002. It's appropriate then that this boxset covers the highs of all band members careers, from the delights of Seven and the Ragged Tiger, the funkyness of Notorious and the sheer success of the Wedding Album. With SATRT following up Rio was always going to be difficult, but by this time superstardom had taken hold and it was all systems go for an album that was definitely duran, and certainly different. There are the classic hits including the no.1 The Reflex which everyone alive in 1984 will remember, but the album is best noted for songs such as The Seventh Stranger, and (I'm looking for) Cracks in the Pavement. Recovering from troubled times, and losing a couple of those pesky Taylors along the way the 1986 Notorious long player bought the new slim line duran (with new boy Warren) back into the charts with the catchy No-No Notorious, Nile Rodgers injection of funk gave us Skin Trade, and Vertigo. Missing out a couple of albums brings us to The Wedding Album in 1993, and once again duran dig deep and produce some stunning work. Warrens guitar work on Ordinary World and Come Undone put duran back into the charts once more. No matter what the future holds for the band (and it's varying members) with music like this they will last forever.
