Product Description

'I wish I could get a seat on the tube... I hadn’t eaten that entire bag of Maltesers... I could meet a man whose hobbies include washing up and monogamy...'

Heather Hamilton is always wishing for things. Not just big stuff - like world peace or for a date with Brad Pitt - but little, everyday wishes, made without thinking. With her luck, she knows they’ll never come true...

Until one day she buys some heather from a gypsy. Suddenly the bad hair days stop; a handsome American answers her ad for a housemate; and she starts seeing James - The Perfect Man who sends her flowers, excels in the bedroom, and isn’t afraid to say ‘I love you’...

But are these wishes-come-true a blessing or a curse? And is there such a thing as too much foreplay?

Loved it5
When I went to my book stash looking for something easy to read I had a few to choose from but the sparkly bits on `Be Careful What You Wish For' caught my eye so out it came. I'd seen mixed reviews about this book but I'm glad it was the one I chose as it fitted my mood perfectly. After a series of heavy reads I needed something light and fluffy and `Be Careful What you Wish For' gave me just that. Its chick lit but it's amusing in a `Shopaholic' kinda way. I for one giggled along through it just like I did with the Shopaholic books and I've found nothing since Shopaholic to give me a really good giggle so I was surprised to find this one did.

The story is about Heather Hamilton who finds all her tiny wishes coming through after buying a piece of lucky heather from a gypsy. All of a sudden there's a spare seat on the tube, there's a parking space outside her apartment and the sexy neighbour she's always fancied asks her out for a drink. But Heather soon realizes that maybe it's not so great having all your wishes come true.

I really enjoyed this book and it made me think of a book I bought for my niece called `Felicity Wishes'. It's amusing, easy to read and has a feel-good factor to it that puts it above the rest. It's predictable in some ways but that doesn't detract from the story at all. I'll definitely be looking up Alexandra Potter to see what else she's got to offer. If they're half as good as this one I'll be stocking up!

thumbs up!!!5
I picked up this book, read the back, bought it then put it on the side for 4 weeks and i've just read it and oh my god!!!!!!!!! why did I wait 4 weeks??

Its fantastic its the best chic book i've read in ages its funny with a slight hint of sadness towards the end it really is great.

Its about a girl called heather who buy's some lucky heather off a gypsy and every thing she wishes for comes true!! And I mean everything only thing is it doesnt make her happy and she has to makes some big choices to become happy again

its a bit predictable but in a great way.

I had one wish after finishing the book and that was the book was a lot longer!

A must buy for the beach!!

I'd also buy angel by katie price as that is just as good!

Funny, but too trivial3
This book is funny and well crafted, but too light to be really interesting. The lucky heather is the starting point for some jokes rather than a real superstition, but it impedes any genuine theme from emerging. Another problem is that the ending is too predictable - you can see it coming more or less from the start of the book.

Although I like humorous books, I am not normally a chicklit fan. If you are, you might enjoy this.
