	In The Hands Of The Gods [DVD] [2007] Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £2.24 More a documentary than a film about some lads from England using their soccer skills to pay their way all the way to South America to meet their idol - Maradona. Alive & uplifting.
	Transsiberian [Blu-ray] [2008] Buy new: £6.98 / Used from: £6.75 Similiar to the 1985 chase movie "Runaway Train" by Kurasawa - this is instead set between Moscow & Beijing. Not a masterpiece, but a great ride nonetheless. See review...

	Flashbacks Of A Fool [DVD] [2008] Buy new: £5.58 / Used from: £3.79 Craig steps out of Bond's shoes with great results in this 'growing up' in the Seventies morality tale. Stunning all-round cast, great locations and period music. Very good. See review...
	The Jane Austen Book Club [DVD] [2007] Buy new: £3.98 / Used from: £1.99 A delicious and impossibly entertaining film with a truly shining cast - great idea too. All this and Emily Blunt - who would make most men consider infidelity immediately if not sooner. See review...
	The Band's Visit [DVD] [2007] Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £4.99 With over 35 International Awards already clocked up, this quirky and charming Israeli movie is one to watch. Loved it to bits - bought it too. See review...
	My Brother is an Only Child [DVD] [2007] Buy new: £3.98 / Used from: £3.99 When the Italians get it right - my God do they get it right! Two brothers with wildly differing political views grow from boys into men with all the consequences. Funny, literate and moving.
	Once [DVD] Buy new: £3.98 / Used from: £7.00 The word "magical" is often liberally bandied about, but for "Once" it actually does apply. Made for £80,000 - it's moved millions globally - and the music is superb too. Grade A pick-me-up.
	Into the Wild [DVD] [2007] Buy new: £4.08 / Used from: £3.65 At times it's infuriatingly navel-gazing, but then there's people interaction that blows you away. A Sean Penn movie - that's enough for most movie lovers. More moving than I thought it would be.
	In Search Of A Midnight Kiss [DVD] [2008] Buy new: £3.98 / Used from: £3.34 Although its painfully emo at times, this New Year's Eve in Los Angeles film has a really ballsy script and style - it wins over your affections. And the unknown cast shines. Very, very good.
	Across the Universe [Blu-ray] [2007] Buy new: £8.98 / Used from: £7.75 Beatles songs made into a story and sung in wildly differing styles - brave, daring, genius at times - even the big star cameos are brilliant. Could have been a disaster and it isn't. Loved it.
	Juno [DVD] [2007] Buy new: £5.28 / Used from: £1.88 Ellen Page and Michael Sera are wonderful in this spunky teenage pregnancy movie - aided by the hilarious & wise JK Simmons & Allison Janney. Fantastic Diablo Cody script that deserved every win.
	Eastern Promises [DVD] Buy new: £4.88 / Used from: £2.20 You can see why Cronenberg chose Viggo Mortensen - you just can't take your eyes off him - compelling like De Niro. Cassel, Mueller-Stahl, Watts - all superb too. "Leon" Violent, but still brilliant.
	Son Of The Bride [DVD] [2001] Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £6.81 A Spanish film about a son trying to keep his restaurant business and life in something other than turmoil, while honouring his Dad's wishes for his ailing Mum. As beautiful a film as I've ever seen.
	The Bucket List [DVD] [2008] Buy new: £3.18 / Used from: £2.72 The millionaire and car mechanic are levelled by cancer - become reluctant buddies in one last adventure before they kick... The two top leads play it for laughs and heart - and win.
	And When Did You Last See Your Father? [DVD] [2007] Buy new: £4.88 / Used from: £1.99 Broadbent, Firth, McKee, Stevenson - a terribly British film about a loathsome and yet loveable father who won't give his son the nod. Twee at times, captivating the next - it'll get to you...
	Jindabyne [2007] [DVD] Buy new: £3.98 / Used from: £1.14 Fishermen in macho outback Australia do something incredibly cavalier on a fishing trip that brings the media, town and wives down on them. Dark & difficult. Byrne and Linney are fantastic.
	Things We Lost In The Fire [DVD] [2007] Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £4.50 Duchovny doesn't want to ever give up on his hopelessly alcoholic friend Del Torro, but circumstances force Del Torro into the merciful hands of a wary Halle Berry. Powerful, intelligent and moving.
	Inside I'm Dancing [DVD] [2004] Buy new: £3.98 / Used from: £2.70 Two Dublin paraplegics fall for the same lovely nurse Romola Garai - both James McAvoy & Steven Robertson are sensational as the physically challenged, but mentally alive pair. Brilliant little movie.
	Waitress [DVD] [2007] Buy new: £5.88 / Used from: £3.38 A small film about a small person in a small town who does the big thing and breaks free from her personal chains. Sad, plucky, brill. Very, very good.
