Active Vision LCD Picture Processing
Colour – MPEG noise reduction and 8-BIT colour gamut processing produces screen images with much smoother colour gradation and a reduction in the ‘blocking’ effect that is often noticeable with large areas of colour of a similar detail – both high definition and standard definition images are produced with increased detail compared to conventional LCD televisions. Complex up-scaling technology allows every available pixel to be utilised and intricate lines and detail are produced without jagged edges thanks to complex de-interlacing technology.

 

Movement – our Real Speed Continuous Progressive technology removes motion blur and maintains the benefit offered by progressive scan over interlaced image technology. This giant leap forward in the rendering of fast moving objects is particularly attractive to sports fans and overcomes the blurring often found with conventional LCD televisions.

Contrast – Active Vision LCD constantly monitors and adjusts the contrast levels required by the original signal. The system works in harmony with our Dynamic Contrast feature to produce the optimum contrast levels; dramatically increasing black levels in dark scenes without compromising bright white levels in lighter more colourful scenes.

Dynamic Contrast
Good picture detail depends on getting the right balance between brightness and contrast. Our Dynamic Contrast technology automatically adjusts the LCD backlight depending on the level of brightness required. Dimming the backlight enables the system to reproduce fine detail and more realistic dark scenes, without compromising brightness levels in lighter, more colourful scenes. Increasing the brightness of the backlight in bright scenes will give images more intensity whilst retaining the contrast essential for great detail.

HDMI connectivity
The High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
is now regarded as the industry standard for connecting modern audio visual components, having replaced SCART as the connection of choice. Great Bargin - the new 2008 Toshiba
This is a great TV - after researching for quite a while i nearly purchased the old 32C3030 - but decided to wait for this new generation. One of the reasons i went for it is because its assembled in the UK.

Picture quality is excellent - on a par with any Sony or Samsung, they have upgraded much of the processing power from last year and the colours are very vibrant and vivid. New design is also much better, very sleek and glossy black.

Overall this is a fantastic TV for the money - thank you Amazon & Toshiba.

Pleasant surprise(s)
Firstly - Great service from Amazon (and the courier) I placed the order late one night (selecting free shipping) and by 9.30am two mornings later I had my TV.

The television:

This is not our primary TV (which is a Pioneer Plasma) and I had mixed feelings about ordering an LCD (not a fan). However, whilst its not up to the standard of the Pioneer...at one eighth of the the cost of the plasma this Toshiba is really very good. (just don't judge the picture until you turn off the awful Black Stretch function!)

Lightweight, attractive design - highly recommended at this price.

Does the job nicely
Bought this off Amazon at £70 cheaper than most big electrical retailers. Delivery was smooth, it was relatively easy to set up and it works a treat. To be honest the picture quality is not always great depending on the channel but for most viewing it is fine and comparable with other similar tv's of the same size, including a panasonic. Needed to adjust the colour down a little as it was too garish on the default settings. The only grumble so far is that there does not seem to be an off switch so it has to be left on standby unless it goes off at the plug, which in these green days seems a bit of an oversight, maybe I just haven't found the button yet!. Overall, I'm delighted, and for the price its a steal.
