Manufacturer's Description
Protect your garden habitat with the Big Cheese Cat repeller.
There are 9 million cats in the UK. The mammal society says cats kill around 275 million prey items a year, including 55 million birds. Voles and other small mammals make up much of the remainder.
The Sonic Cat Repeller will help protect your garden habitat and encourage wildlife and birds back into it. The Sonic Cat Repeller incorporates a sophisticated PIR (Passive Infra Red) detection system, which constantly monitors a fan shaped area of a 98 degrees arc up to a distance of 12 metres. The protected area is over 120sq. meters of unobstructed space. The Sonic Cat Repeller detects animals moving into this area and triggers a burst of continuously variable ultrasound, which sweeps a frequency range of 18,000Hz, 24,000 Hz to repel them. Simultaneously the LED indicator on the front of unit signals that it is now activated.
The Sonic Cat Repeller is powered by two 9V alkaline batteries. Battery power is conserved by the PIR detection system, which allows the unit to remain on stand-by between activation periods, therefore maximizing battery life.
The Push on/off Test Button on the face of the unit will drop the sonic frequency to an audible range. This enables you to check that the unit is functioning properly and to hear the swept frequency. The unit is also weather resistant.
Customer Reviews
it works,but keep at it
As with the other reviewers, cats were a constant problem. The cat repeller worked within a day or so,so I left it in the front garden for about a week so the cats got used to it being there, then I moved it into the rear garden. Now instead of jumping out of bed a number of times every night with my trusty water pistol whenever I heard cats jumping over my fence or gate I could sleep through the night-heaven! But after a couple of weeks I noticed [the evidence was rather obvious!]that cats had discovered that the scarer was no longer in the front,so I had to put it back there again.I now divide it between the front and back gardens ['cos I'm tight and won't buy two!] a couple of weeks in each, and it seems to work OK.My 12year old son can always hear when it's on,though I can't,but that can be an advantage if I forget to turn it off during the day and leave it on when there's a lot of foot traffic in the "cat alarm zone".I haven't been able to find rechargable 9v batteries, but if the scarer is placed correctly the batteries last quite a time.I found it better not to place it facing the entrance to the garden as everyone passing by sets it off.[unless you have a solid, reasonably high fence or wall]I place mine near the gate facing the house and garden,so only anyone/thing coming into the garden sets it off.Just keep it out of sight of neighbouring kids or it may disappear!Nothing else kept the persistant cats out-netting,nails+wire in the top the fence, but this is brilliant. It works!
Worked 100%
after spending £65 on various sprays, powders and even lion poo from the zoo I wish Id bought this first.
Worked out of the box.
After 4 months of cats leaving deposits in the garden they no longer come near it.
I watched for about 25 minutes before the first cat dared to invade and I can tell you, its the first time I have seen a cat do a vertical take off from a standing start, only wish i could of videoed it for you-tube.
One problem my neighbours keep popping round to borrow it!
Goodbye cats
I have 4 cats that moved next door late last year, i must admit there had never been a problem with cat litter untill recently...
I bagged up nearly half a dustbin liner of the stuff and thought enough is enough...determined to get rid of them i spent a small fortune on jeyes fluid and sprayed all my borders and lawns to no avail..
People told me citruss lemon smells would keep them away another
£20 in chemicals only minimised the situation..more money spent on deterrent gels which i placed all around my rear garden they attacked my front garden..so i covered the front garden they deffacated all over my rear lawns...
I'm not a cat lover and i wouldn't harm them but found myself screaming at them when they were bouncing on my 4 year old daughters huge trampoline and messing next to it..
The big cheese has totally stopped them even walking on my garden..
Ive had one soiling in a week since placing them on my garden and i may have missed that when placing them...
I can't praise this product enough don't waste money on gels disinfectants
and time tying bags to trees to scare cats just purchase the big cheese it
has definately made a difference to my garden :)
