Probably a classic, but would need updating
I came across David trough some articles he wrote for PPC Mag and became interested in his methods.
This book is a very good intro to performance tuning. The most valuable thing is that David has spent a lot of time testing engines on the Dyno and therefore can give you no-nonsense advice on the stuff that REALLY works. One example is his insistence on head porting that what matters is port shape NOT polishing.
The pictures are a bit old and this edition would do nicely with an update, but the advice contained therein is still very good.
