Manufacturer's Description
MacFamilyTree is our highly popular genealogy application, and sports a stunning, configurable user interface, animated charts, editable reports and powerful print and export options. Visualize migration of your ancestors over centuries and continents: built-in support for Google Earth to research geolocations is also part of our version 5.
Continuously Evolving Performance
The new 'Virtual Tree', a powerful 3D view to browse and visualize your entire database. Support for iPhone and iPod touch synchronization is also a first for Mac genealogy (requires companion application 'MobileFamilyTree', available separately).
Based on more than a decade of experience, MacFamilyTree 5 may well be the most advanced genealogy application for the Mac and thanks to GEDCOM ensures reliable exchange of genealogy information across OS boundaries. MacFamilyTree offers easy web page creation and is smoothly integrated into Apple's MobileMe and the exclusive MacFamilyTree.com Internet service.
MacFamilyTree 5 has been completely redesigned to leverage Apple's powerful programming and operating system technologies like Core Data and QuickTime for high performance and flexibility.
MacFamilyTree 5 is a Universal Binary application and is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and 10.5 Leopard.

Mac Family Tree 5
Very easy to install and start up. Instant incorporation of a gedcom File from a PC version of a family tree. Not convinced of the value of the "virtual tree" function. Seems a bit of a gimmick. Ancestor chart is in the horizontal format. Personally I prefer a vertical presentation. Lines from parents to children are diagonal rather than vertical. Again as a personal preference I prefer traditional method.
Having voiced these minor personal criticisms the program is very good. Data is easy to enter and retrieve. Editing data is also easy. Good value for money and would satisfy most amateur family tree hunters.
The best for all mac users doing their family tree
The best family history for mac's It's easy to get gadcoms down and sorts out your family decendents, it will work out who your ancesters are to you like which person is your greeat great grandparents are or 2nd 3rd cousins etc, even family from branch members of your family, but you have to put the details in first. A must have for any one doing their family history on an Apple Mac. One good thing is once you have bought on you need never get another as all upgrades are downloded free
Not much out there for Macs - but this does just fine!
Having used genealogy software on PC's for years I was surprised at the lack of software available for Macs.
This software matches any PC software you can find and (although daunting at first) does become intuitive after a while.
