Product Description

Could our deepest hurts reveal the key to a powerful form of prayer that was lost 17 centuries ago? What can we learn today, from the great secret of our most cherished traditions? For more than 20 years, Gregg Braden, the best-selling author of The God Code, has searched for evidence of a forgotten form of prayer that was lost to the west following the Biblical edits of the early Christian Church. In the 1990's he found and documented this form of prayer still being used in the remote monasteries of central Tibet. In Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer, Braden begins by describing this ancient form of prayer that has no words, or outward expressions. Then for the first time in print, he leads us on a journey exploring what our most intimate experiences tell us about our deepest beliefs.

Customer Reviews

The Power of Beauty5
I read Gregg Braden's Divine Matrix first which was published after this book, and they contain similar material. However, you will gain from reading both.

It is a delightfully packaged little book, small, red and with a padded cover. You are drawn to it before you read one word of the stunning content.

The first page tells you everything about it:

"This book is written for those in search of comfort in the presence of fear and uncertainty in our world. In those moments when life's hurts tear into the hidden places of your soul, I invite you to enter the refuge of beauty, blessing, our lost mode of prayer, and the deep wisdom that each rests upon..."

Yes, other books will claim this too, because having read dozens of books about spirituality, it is no surprise the best are all singing the same song. What makes this book different is that it is free from jargon, and puts the complex message over powerfully as five core `secrets.'

I have long used the expression `you're a beauty' [probably gleaned from Robert Lindsay's Fagin in Oliver Twist], as a term of endearment, without ever really paying attention to its deeper meaning. Braden breathes life into the word and explains how beauty, whilst subjective holds us all in its thrall.

So, when you pray feel the answer, imagine what you want has happened, learn from hurt, use the power of blessing in your life, let beauty `be the transformer' and create your own prayers.

Simple? Yes. Powerful? Incredibly. How? Get the book.

This really is an excellent book... suitable for all.5
I, too, read this book after "The Divine Matrix". There is a certain amount of "overlap" between the two books, but each is complete in itself.

"Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer" really is an excellent book, and can be read by anyone with an open mind (& heart)... irrespective of religious or cultural background.

Unfortunately, much has been lost (or hidden from us) over the years, and we are only just re-discovering what was "known" thousands of years ago.

Gregg Braden does an excellent job of bringing us back to "basics" in this wonderful little book... highlighting the role of human emotions in the effectiveness of prayer... and the need to be in the right state of mind (ie preparation)... and to "feel" (amongst other things) that the prayer has already been answered.

All I can say is: read the book, and try it for yourself; it could certainly change your life for the better (as well as countless others around you).

a little beauty3
A lovely little book to feel and hold, it has a padded cover which makes it feel special from the start. For those who are familiar with Bradens work the message follows his other books as he continues his search for spiritual development, teaching us not to pray with words but with feelings (a spiritual take on the law of attraction). The message as ever comes straight from Bradens heart and his desire to give us the tools to create a better world for ourselves and others. However, like his other works he is very repetetive, reiterating the same points continuously which can get quite frustrating.
