Album Description
Beulah (her real name) grew up in a village in the Peak District. Wrapped within a creative family, she enjoyed a childhood in which there was always music - "James Taylor, Carole King and Crystal Gayle were always playing in the house when we were children and they became my strongest influences". By the age of ten, she had started writing her own songs.
Now comes Beulah with 'Mabel And I', a thrillingly magical new voice with a record to restore your faith in the traditional songwriting values of memorable melodies and intelligent lyrics; it is a record of stories drawn from her 24 year-old life, sung from the heart without artifice or contrivance.

Whee?
The opening seconds of the opening track on this album immediately turned me off to Beulah. She lost me as soon as she sang "Whee..."
I can cope with "where or when" pronounced "ware or wen" but Beulah's "whee" in place of "we" is just too irritating. No more to say.
This is gorgeous!
I've had this album for a while now, but of late it has been barely off my play list. It is achingly beautiful, full of sadness at lost love. Her voice is superb and I wish this lady was a more well known name - she deserves to be! The album has many tracks you will replay again and again. It is music to feel sad with, to work to, to chill out with on a dark evening with the lights low.
Beulah deserves to be a major name. Her songs are gorgeous, timeless and lovely and her delicious voice is the perfect vehicle for her songs.
Why?
This is one of the most beautiful albums I have ever bought. For me it reminds me of my childhood (fairies living under the apple tree at the top of our garden) along with love's magical & sometimes not so magical effect. It is spiritual & enchanting. And also possesses qualities of amazing deep richness(which I did not fine in Katie Melua's 2nd album) as it has a truth, honesty, huge warmth & love. My question Why? is because I bought this albun as a present for a friend & oh Beulah who persuaded you to do the awful dark pictures for the album. My original album shows you very serene with a wonderful white background, you natural (remember Carole King's you make me feel..) - the pictures reflect your music & seemingly you - why these dark pictures? They do not do you justice. They are dark & you are a bright, white shining star.
