Simply the best Annie
As it says in the small print this was a version recorded, in 1957 actually, for American TV, with Mary Martin as a very cute Annie Oakley and John Raitt as Frank Butler.
It is a very mellow, warm-hearted reading of Irving Berlin's comic musical, and I remember from my childhood that tracks from it, rather than the Broadway cast or movie soundtrack versions, were always being requested and played on the radio (BBC Light Programme(!) / Radio 2) during the late 50s and 60s, with the favourite being the duet "Anything You Can Do..."
The recording quality was superb for its time, and has been preserved well. Although there are more modern versions available, as the show has been revived, both in London and in the US, several times, none of them is better than this for musicality and charm.
