Hmmm3
This is a very tough one. The cruelest thing I could say is that it's good but it's not great! Unfortunately it's true.

The talent, as other people have said completely carries this show. It's interesting of course to see how actors can interpret a role a so differently, but wow, this one is so very very different from the Original show.

For anyone who hasn't seen this show live, do. The brand new show currently touring is again very different, but it will give you an idea.

Reva Rice plays Pearl in this version, she has a very strong voice and is not afraid to use it. She also looked wonderful on stage, being very slim and a good mover.
Maynard Williams and John Partridge take on the roles of Greaseball and Electra. Both are well over 6 foot and very well built! They both have excellent voices and play the parts well. Diehard OLC fans will very much disagree! The music is a little stilted and strange in places, but on the whole, an enjoyable version.

To solve this argument, I think I would suggest, buy both copies of the show!

im in love!5
I went and saw the show, about 2 years ago, and bought the album abot ayear ago. I fell in love with the music on the album almost immediantly, and have now learnt all the words, to this well listened to album! i wouldrecommened it to anyone with any taste of music, as it has rock, pop, anda classical mix, which makes the musical come alive. Bring along a videoplease!

Pure class, a perfect way to remember a brilliant night!5
I went to see the show about 9 years ago and bought this soundtrack some years later and it is just absolutly brilliant! Yes its cheesy, yes its a bit unbelievable but its also the greatest musical of all time, written and performed brilliantly. There is a whole range of music on here including, pop, rock, rap, blues and country, and it is all uplifting, fun music. The best tracks are 'next time you fall in love', a beautiful love song deut, the incredibly powerful 'starlight sequence', the hilarious 'pumping iron', and 'freight' with the inspired lyrics "freight is great, freight is grest, we carry weight cos we are freight and freight is great"!!!! Altogether a very fun cd, which will bring back great memories for those of you who are lucky enough to have seen it, and a good laugh and sing along for those who havent. Highly recommended!
