Customer Reviews
Bat-tastic!
I was singing it ALL YEAR...'til I was arrested...twice! my fave toon is "Hold me, Bat boy!". You'll probably think I'm a real SUCK UP...but Fangs for the fun, Bat Boy!!
Fantastic show - Fantastic sound track
I bought the CD before I went to the show and was not disappointed with either. The CD does not contain all of the songs from the show and some of the wording has changed since the original recording but this aside it is a definate must have. Deven May is superb as Bat Boy, in fact there is not a bad performance from anyone.
If you haven't seen the show yet book now! It's only on until the end Oct 2004 so don't miss out.
A breath of fresh air!
After the massive influx of pop musicals, its great to hear something fresh. Bat Boy certainly has its own unique musical style which is an emalgamation of rock roots with hints of 20th century neo-classicism.
The cast are certainly all amazing, singing their hearts out and helped along by the small but present band. Deven May as Bat Boy gives an inspiring performance and you can really hear his turmoil at being branded an 'outcast'. Kerry Butler excels as Shelly and the ballad 'Inside Your Heart' reflects the emotions of both her and the Bat Child himself. The pinacle is 'Comfort and Joy'; a broadway number using all the characters with some absolutely stunning vocal harmony. This is theatre at its best.
The album has few low-lights although it could be hard to actually follow the story from listening to this recording, however the dialogue involved does give some indiaction of the barest plot.
