About Le Creuset

A lifetime spent crafting the finest cookware. Le Creuset has been making superb, award winning cookware since 1925 and the secret recipe of ingredients remains the same today. Each piece is made from a unique mould into which molten iron is poured from a large cauldron (called a creuset). This creates a unique piece, each with it’s own identity and style. The piece is then hand finished and subjected to strict quality checks. Finally the cast iron is enamelled at extremely high temperatures to create the vibrant lustre and hard finish which looks great in the home.

Wave Goodbye to those Wooden Spoons!5
An excellent 'large' spatula from 'Le Creuset'.
Not only is it far more hygenic than a wooden spoon, as it can withstand temperatures up to 425 degrees C, but far more versatile, too.
Although flexible, it is sturdy enough to lift that egg out of the frying pan!
The removable head (approx 10.5cm X 6.5cm) is dishwasher safe, although it is seldom necessary as it washes up a treat in hot, soapy water in the kitchen sink.
It will not scratch or damage any cookware surface.

Presented in a sealed pack it makes an excellent gift for the chef who already has everything!
Available in a variety of colours, and at this unbeatable price at Amazon, today.

Very large spatula, good replacement for a fish slice.5
This is a wooden handled spatula with a very flexible BRIGHT orange silicone head, overall about 40cm long and the head must be about 11 - 12 cm. It's wonderfully versatile and very heat resistant (I have to admit when I first got one of the smaller le creuset spatulas similar to this one I was a little doubtful as the head's texture is rubbery you instinctively think it should melt, but you can lay it against the base of a hot frying pan without any adverse effects). I love the colour (especially good if you have any of the Le Creuset Volcanic range) as it is only the head that is orange and I like a splash of colour around my kitchen. The head is simplicity itself to clean, whether in the dishwasher or just the sink, because it is non-stick, so never gets very dirty, but beware that the handle cannot go into a dishwasher - it doesn't take much cleaning at all outside one, but if you go for fully dishwasher-proof every time you might not be so keen, although 5 seconds to give it a rub is all it generally needs. It is ideal for stirring non-stick pans, like a wooden spoon, but much more practical and hygienic, and of course can be used as a bog-standard spatula for scraping out a dish or pan's contents. Its flexibility also makes it more versatile than any of these things, though, and it can be used to scrape out just about any shape of dish or pan because of this (well the bigger ones, for maximum versatility team this up with one of the smaller headed spatulas).

As I said in the review title it is also useful instead of a fish slice as it is about the same size and shape (though in general a fish slice is better at getting fish out of a frying pan, this will not scratch the non-stick coating, so you have the choice).

I've got a full collection of these spatulas now and I use them all the time. They replace just about everything else that you would use in cooking on a hob except for a slotted spoon, and so, for all the spatulas are not cheap (neither are they extortionate), they are an excellent investment (have a look at all of the others in the range too). I can also recommend the cerise (cherry red not bright pink in this case) headed ones, which my mum has, these are another very attractive bright colour for a kitchen.

Le Creuset spatchelor - more than just a mixing device5
I received a spatchelor free when I purchased some Le Creuset saucepans. "Not much of a free gift!" I thought. However, it has become one kitchen utensil that I use daily. It is great for mixing sauces in the saucepan - and it won't scratch. I also use it for folding mixtures, stir frying, loosening fried eggs from the pan, and to move things around a non-stick pan. When it comes to pouring sauces/cake mixtures, using this cleverly shaped little device, you get the last little morsel out of the bowl or pan. Gone are the days of scraping around with a spoon. If you don't possess one already - give it a go........
